About this ebook

An erotic paranormal SHORT STORY

Tara doesn't know what is happening to her when she repeatedly wakes up naked in her cellar. In an attempt to figure out if she's sleepwalking, or if something more troubling is at play, she sets up cameras to determine if she should seek professional help—or call the cops. The truth, however, is far more alluring than she'd ever imagined.

Content Warning: This story has elements of erotic horror, and due to the story's structure and its conflict of missing memory, the question of consent may come across as dubious before reaching the resolution. This may be distressing to some readers.

Due to the structure of this story, consent between the characters may appear dubious in nature. It's important to note that any sexual acts in this story are consensual, but the central conflict the protagonist faces is that she must figure out what is happening to her on nights she cannot remember. This could easily pose as an allegory to victims who were date raped and paint the male character, and the relationship between the characters, in a negative light.

While the tale ends on a positive note, there are horror elements included as this series is a combination of paranormal romance and erotic horror. This story in no way condones sexual violence, but I would prefer if readers who are uncomfortable reading any form of dubious consent in the erotic genre—even if it only appears dubious at first—skip this story. I don't want to betray your trust.

Monsters in the Dark is an anthology series of short stories that each explore a different element of the Dökkálfar. This tale showcases what occurs with women who are not meant to be mated to these creatures, and how the dark elves remain undiscovered even though they have taken many lovers over time.

To those who read further, I hope you enjoy the story, twisted though it may be.

    Best wishes,

    Chapter One

    Sleepwalking.

No other reason made any sense. How else could Tara explain waking up in the cellar about once a week for the past two months? Guess it was a good thing she'd set up the old pull-out couch down there in case she had to wait out a tornado. Until moving to Nebraska, she'd never rented a house with a storm cellar, let alone any kind of basement.

And she'd never woken up in a different location from where she went to sleep.

Pacing the old rug in the middle of the room, Tara looked around at the surroundings. Washer and dryer, furnace and hot water heater. Ironing board. A short dresser that needed to be refinished. The weather radio had been knocked off of it again. She hadn't a clue how or why. Sighing, she stomped over and put it back on the wooden surface while her mind continued to spin out of control.

What was she supposed to do? Was there medication for sleepwalking? Did she alert the neighbors to watch for her to dance around naked in the moonlight so they could rein her in? Because that was the weirdest part of all. She always woke up naked, feeling like she'd run a
