Shan Sa (a pseudonym meaning whistle of the wind in the mountains
) was born in Beijing in 1972. In 1990, after the Tiananmen Square protests, she decided to leave China for Paris in order to begin a new life in France. Thanks to a scholarship from the French government, she was able to take the baccalaureate examination and go on to study philosophy.
