David sat at the kitchen bar, eating toast and scrambled eggs and watching his mother load dishes into the dishwasher.

She and his father and little brother had been home for a couple of weeks, now, and although he loved them all dearly, his time alone had nearly been a religious experience. Still, it had been nice to eat home cooked food again. Frozen potpies and microwaved soup had grown pretty boring during the time they'd been gone.

Being on his own wasn't the only thing he missed, however.

Cassie hadn't called once in the last two weeks. He was pretty sure part of the reason was his family's return -- the other was her husband. Andres had been home, too. And with him around, his instructor hadn't been swimming in the nude every afternoon, so David hadn't even had that to look forward to. The situation had changed, however; when David had looked out his bedroom window last night, Andres' car was gone.

You about finished over there? his mother asked. I'd like to run this load.

Yep.

While his mother watched in mock disapproval, David mopped up egg yoke with the last bit of toast, and then pushed the plate across the counter.

Get enough?

David nodded, wiping his fingers on a napkin.

He was getting up to leave when the wall phone rang beside him. He snuck a peek at the caller ID, and experienced an excited surge of adrenaline. He managed to keep his voice steady despite his excitement.

Cassie's sultry inflection on the other end arrowed straight to his groin, and he instinctively dropped his free hand to his crotch to cover his rising arousal.
