The Lean Startup
A model of entrepreneurial success
After his first startup, Catalyst Recruiting, failed, Eric Ries opted for a completely different method, known as the lean startup, which was nonetheless criticised by the main traditional management theories.
The lean startup is adapted from a theory developed by the Japanese engineers at Toyota and emphasises the importance of reducing waste and working in small stages, with the trajectory of the company constantly rectified based on customer feedback.
After implementing these principles in his own startup, and given the interest that readers of his blog showed in the subject, Ries decided to publish The Lean Startup, which brings together the lessons he has learnt from his own experiences.
