The Target sign’s garish light added an eerie reddish glow to the light winter mist. It also highlighted the inside of Becky’s black Silverado in glowing crimson. Anxious to get in from the biting winter air, she paid little attention to anything but closing the door behind her and getting her key into the ignition.
