Dedication
I dedicate this book to everyone who has a dream inside of them
and want to make that dream a reality.
Preface
Why You Should Read This Book
A 2015 Gallup poll revealed that only 32 percent of working people truly enjoy what they do. That’s a pretty startling statistic! This doesn’t necessarily mean that the other 68 percent are miserable, but it makes a bold statement about the way most of us live our lives.
Those who fall within the 68 percent might fit into one of the following categories:
(1) They are currently working toward their dreams; they just haven’t gotten there yet. If that’s you, this book will help intensify your effort to get where you desire to be.
(2) They started working toward their dream but got distracted by life (career, marriage, family, or other things). If that’s you, this book will help you shift gears and get your dream back on track.
(3) Life has been ok
and they have decided to sit back and enjoy what they already have accomplished. If that’s you, this book will convince you to come out of your comfort zone and go further. You only live once, and there is a lot more life to be enjoyed!
(4) They have never chosen a definitive direction for their life. If that’s you, this book will help you figure out what you want and show you how to go get it.
Why I Wrote This Book
I would love to tell you that writing a book was a longtime dream of mine, but that’s not the case. Truth is, writing this book was one of the hardest things I have ever done. The concept for this book came about after I started my journey to create the life I truly wanted. Because I like seeing people winning and enjoying success, I felt obligated to share my experiences in hopes that it would help others.
I am not some self-proclaimed expert promising to teach you how to get everything you want or show you how to make a million dollars. The market is saturated with enough quick-fix solutions that fail to deliver meaningful results.
I wrote this book because I recognized a need for responsible information that helps people transform their lives. By responsible,
I mean information that isn’t filled with a bunch of exaggerations, and empty emotional gestures.
What to Expect
The book is designed to provide an engaging, hands-on experience for readers. It lays out a pragmatic approach for assessing where you are, deciding what you want, and developing a plan to obtain it.
For those who may be thinking that reading this book is the only thing you need to do, allow me to caution you—change is a process. That being said, I BELIEVE that ANYONE who actively reads the material and applies the principles will see significant results.
This book is broken into four sections.
Section 1: Developing a perspective for success.
Section 2: Determining what’s right for you.
Section 3: Laying out a vision and plan for your life.
Section 4: Practical principles to help you reach your destination?
About Me
I would not have written this book if I hadn’t already experienced positive results from the things I advocate here. Just like anyone else, my life has included disappointments and setbacks. I know what it is like when people don’t believe in you. I have experienced discrimination. I know what it feels like to have hard-earned property stolen. I know what it feels like to watch someone you care about walk away. I know what it feels like to think God doesn’t answer prayers.
By that same token, I know what it feels like to be surrounded by people who truly have my back. I know what it feels like to overcome adversity. I know how it feels to silence the haters.
I now know that God answers prayers and I know what it feels like to win!
These experiences, both good and bad, helped to make me the person I am today. The most valuable lesson I have taken from all this is; no matter what happens, it is up to me to create the life I want. Just like it is up to you!
I hope this book will empower you to create the life you want.
Introduction
Be open to change.
The Hint
One evening, after a particularly long day at work followed by an afternoon workout, I waited for the train to go home. As I waited, I couldn’t help feeling it was just another day in what seemed like an endless cycle. The week was going by slowly; it was only Tuesday, but I felt like it should have been Thursday. When the train arrived, I picked up my things, got on, and found a seat.
I reached into my bag, pulled out a book, and started mindlessly reading. I didn’t recall anything I read on the first couple of pages. Suddenly, my interest piqued when I got to a section titled, Finding Your Passion The first sentence read, Do you know what your passion is?
I thought, I could
