About this ebook

Genesis, 1.

All of our stars align to form the world’s most meaningful work

For the dreamers of the day who wish to make their world a better place, Dreams of Eden is a synthesis of all of the thoughts of the great minds who dreamed the very same dream through the ages. It unifies the many models of epistemology, morality, emotionality, and ideology expressed through art, media, and literature into an expansive, epic-scale narrative.

What exactly does that mean?

Beyond all of the ideas, concepts, themes, scenes, and parallels it presents, Dreams of Eden is a collection of allegorical paeans to many timeless, artistic masterpieces; merging them all together into a single grand, cohesive, multifaceted story which is driven by an expansive cast of diverse personas who each reflect a particular aspect of humanity.

If you have ever pondered what it might take to make the dream a reality, Dreams of Eden is especially yours. As well as echoing the great voices and minds who came before us and deconstructing heaven, earth, and the human condition; Dreams of Eden at its heart is an eternal testament to the elusive paradise dream and source of reference for its fulfilment.

Allow the voices of the past to widen your perspective, and perhaps one day in the not too distant future, Dreams of Eden will no longer be but the telling of a set of dreams.

    EXORDIUM

"The fundamental human right, the presupposition of every other right, is the right to life itself. This is true of life from the moment of conception until its natural end."

    - Pope Benedict XVI

From womb until tomb, every human soul that happens upon this world possesses the indefeasible right to live their life free from the deprivation or defilement of that life by another.

"We are each other's harvest; we are each other's business; we are each other's magnitude and bond."

    - Gwendolyn Brooks

Mankind is defined by intertwinement as much as it is defined by diversity. Though every human soul finds distinction in genealogy, upbringing, experience, and belief, what also ought to be recognized is the unity that each individual shares with every other through humanity in common.

"The point in history at which we stand is full of promise and danger. The world will either move forward toward unity and widely shared prosperity - or it will move apart."

    - Franklin Roosevelt

And so as much as each of us are entitled to tread along in pursuit of personal happiness, we ought also in our own way seek to further the good of the mankind we have been born unto; first through pursuing the manifestation of collective unity, and then through pursuing the manifestation of collective prosperity. The good of mankind is also the good of the individual human soul.

Before the beginning of time, 'fore the

    Beginning of everything, before the

    Beginning of beginning's dreary self,

Or perhaps in a place along the twine,

Dawn saw the birth of heavens and hells and

All of the world; the partition between.

How all came to be, how all really are

    Remain the greatest mysteries, for

Night forever dies when the light arrives.

    Anyhow, the morning of existence

Came and greeted all the world; acquainting

It with cycles; nature's fractal, you know?

Also greeted were the seas and skies in

Varying shades of blue, though the spectrum

Of color is something up in the air.

Morning then said a cheery hey! to land,

All the plants and the trees and the mountains

And the breeze. What kind of world would this place

Be, without the stars all there to light up

The sky? And of course mention must be made

Of the sun and the moon some like to see

As an elegant symbol of hidden

    Meaning; or celestial cheese. Upon

This rich, vibrant canvas of color, there

Then emerged the birds and those that lived in

The sea. Then those regarded livestock and

Their exotic, liberal kin. Of will,

Indeed, they say these creatures truly were,

But never did they waver in the grand

Design. Entrenched in their world and minding

Never to stray away. It was at that

Time when the story began; when it’s said

Dawn saw it time for consciousness to 'gin.

So unto the world at Dawn's beckoning,

From a union of nature and something

More divine; mankind happened upon the world.

    Existence became existences, and

    Reality became realities.

Then rose dreams, ideas, and delusions,

Until even truth and certainty fell.

Many often say that Genesis speaks

In aeon, not day; so thus can it

Be said the Creator went to rest

    Following the cataclysmic stirring.

No one knows for certain what happened then,

Nor what the past looks like, nor what waits yet

Ahead in the distant future. But the

Sun rises upon this seventh aeon,

    Revealing a world in pandemonium.

    Littered with hopes, ideals, agendas

And beliefs that cross, intersect, and clash

Across time, space, and existence, in a

    Viscous cycle of never-ending bedlam.

    Fighters and lovers; exuberance, pain,

Equal parts beautiful, equal parts insane.

Each dear soul's precious joys and triumphs, and

All the suffering had in vain. At the

End of every day, the burning question

All people return to is what it is

They live for. To love? To care? To make change?

To avoid death? To grow? To reproduce?

Who do they love? Who do they care for? Who

Do they make change for? Who do they grow for?

Who do they reproduce for? Only for

Themselves, and only for each other. All

That they do, and all that they believe in

Is for the sake of each other. And yet

    They constantly stand in each other's way;

Hindering each other on the path to

    Fulfilment. Therefore is humanity's

    Tragedy; only being half divine.

Blessed with sight of things grander than they and

Theirs; yet bound by nature’s chains; widely shared.

And so upon this seventh aeon ‘midst

Chaos’ reign; the fateful dawn rises forth.

Hopes and dreams set in cycle all anew.

    The diegesis of cyclic vicissitude.

The world in its infancy. Enter Evelyn of Ecclesium and Lilith of Omega

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

The time has come for us to decide upon the fate of our progeny. By the life and power bestowed upon us, with grace, from above-

    Lilith of Omega

Not from above, my dear Evelyn. Not from above. Rid yourself of your fanciful notions. There exist no such things as heaven or hell. Beyond that which we are, there is nothing above nor below.

    Enter Adhamec of Gaia

    Adhamec of Gaia

Is that so? Surely, you must lend some sort of significance to the stars above, which shine down with radiant light, as well as the earth below, which provides placement for our weight.

    Lilith of Omega

You make a point, Adhamec. But what existence can there truly be said to exist; if we three were not present to say, and testify to its truth?

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

But therefore exists the very proof of divinity's design, Lilith. How presumptuously improbable it is to say that we three, the only evidently meta-conscious beings in the world, are not part of some greater destiny, than simply happening as an accident upon existence.

    Lilith of Omega

And to that, I say my point is proven. Dear Evelyn, would those precious thoughts and ideas be capable of coming into being, if you were not here to dream them?

    Adhamec of Gaia

I dare say that you, too, Lilith, are mistaken in your belief. If a tree falls in some distant place, and we are not around to see the event, it does not mean the tree never fell. In fact, we would acknowledge that it has fallen, if we encounter it in its fallen state. Irrespective of whether you are here to observe it, the world will continue to exist and run its eternal cycle. The world does not revolve around you, nor even us, as a collective.

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

Indeed, we are always at the mercy of the metaphysical; all the forces that be. Therefore, my people will accept their place in the world. They will find their guidance and direction from above, and derive their way of living from the divine laws that heaven entrusts to them. Further, they will dedicate themselves to the pursuit of divine sanctity and seek to transcend all the world's ills. Per the divine purpose, with the guidance of order through states and hierarchies, they will co-exist and thrive together.

    Adhamec of Gaia

I know nothing of your ideas, Evelyn, but my people will also accept their place in the world. They will be different from yours, however, in that they will naturally find their purpose by themselves. The natural cycle will run its course, no matter what we do. My people will personify that truth. Though in groups, they will be divided by their own agendas, as well the primal intrinsicalities they share with the less sentient beings of the world, I have faith that the phenomenon of natural selection will favor them, as a whole, and they will co-exist and thrive together.

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

And what of your people, my dear Lilith?

    Lilith of Omega

I will have no part in either of your preposterous designs.

    Adhamec of Gaia

How, then, will your people find guidance?

    Lilith of Omega

They will need no guidance, you fool. We are the life and power of this world. Without us, there is nothing. My people will care not for your pro-nature philosophies or environmental sentimentalities, Adhamec, nor will they care a cent for your beliefs in divinity and unseen forces, Evelyn. My people will care for nothing but themselves. They will live for nothing but themselves. And this is how it should be. We are the world. I don't know about co-existing or thriving together, but I imagine that my people will all be happy, because in life they will seek nothing else.

    Adhamec of Gaia

I see. It seems the time has come for us to part ways, then.

    Lilith of Omega

Indeed. Fare thee well, Evelyn of Ecclesium, and you, Adhamec of Gaia.

    Lilith of Omega

    Farewell, Lilith of Omega.

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

    Goodbye, Lilith.

    Exit Lilith of Omega

    Adhamec of Gaia

What will become of us, and this world, Evelyn?

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

I know not. The heavens have become silent on the fate of mankind.

    Adhamec of Gaia

All that is left for us, then, is to wait and see. Perhaps your heavens will one day bring us together once more, Evelyn. Until we meet again?

    Evelyn of Ecclesium

    Until we meet again, Adhamec.

    Exeunt

Once upon a time, along the twine, there existed a presumptuous world, nestled ’tween hells and heavens. Among democracies, oligarchies, autocracies, aristocracies, monarchies, empires, and republics, he lay an upward gaze ’cross the still night sky and pondered in wonder of thunder, fire, rain, and of those not a little bit sane. They who preached of gods and devils, and associations ’tween goods and evils; of linguistic irony and of delusional singularity.

But who was he to identify hypocrisy? For even he was naught but a prisoner to the blind, contrived and moral-deprived.

Do you think that the stars will ever come out? asked the purest of voices, her eyes beaming with the brightest hope. Then did the world so weep, as black sky broke to flashes, wails, and torrential tears. In whispers, hisses, kisses did wind, rain speak, as haunting worldly echoes upon a time claimed. There one day and gone the next, or so the old tales went.

"Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s needs, but the expense of spirit in a waste of shame, knows the true value of time, for as long as you are looking down, you’ll never be contented with what you have, and as iron is eaten by rust, so too I’d rather betray the world, than let the world betray me. In rows, they flow, they glow, then go."

And so with a brandish of lightning did our story begin in an existence illuminated by the manifestation of conscious perception; like brother destiny in redemptive agrarian delusion. But as brothers intertwined, and not similarly inclined, so too went perception and delusion; concrete and abstract, reality and dream.

Thus darkness birthed the light to a meadowy field on a starry night.

    IMAGINE

A literary paean to Les Misérables, the novel written by Victor Hugo, to Imagine, the musical composition of artist John Lennon, and to the expressions of Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama.

"All major religious traditions carry basically the same message, that is love, compassion, and forgiveness. The important thing is they should be part of our daily lives."

    - Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama

Once upon a time, along the twine, there

Emerged one Truthfinder upon the world

From that hell where all so dreaded to be.

With half of a life he paid the whole price

For keeping the health of his ailing sis'.

Such was the fate in this Ecclesium

Place, where the word's far more sacred than the

Soul. Crippled by rules and shunned by selfish

Fools, his sister lasted little longer

Than his liberty; as the years flew by

And his hope slowly died; not even an

Occasion to cry. Imagine the pain

That this once prison slave felt to find at

The end; naught but a tomb with his one wish's

Name. And then, from the rest, even trying

To conform, he got nothing but curses

And shame. So in this cruel, relentless

World where there was always more misery

Than humanity; he returned to the

Ways that he'd always known, for after all

They said a sinner was all he could be.

He stole from some hypocrite that preached

Of love and divine good. "Only bygones,

Pansies, and the gullible sort listen

To that worthless crap anymore!" But then at

The point where Truthfinder found himself caught

By Ecclesium’s law, with death on a stake

Decree's final rite, the man he'd

Betrayed and fooled and aggrieved came not to

See his revenge, to which he had every right.

But rather to save the condemned's name; to

Save Truthfinder from the flames. Perhaps there

Was more to this Mercedes than preaching

And fame; as this one miracle moment

Of selflessness for naught but the sake of

Care, saved a soul; Truthfinder’s soul, from an

    Eternity of spite and bitterness.

From that fateful moment on, Truthfinder

Turned over a new leaf with newfound

Hope and optimism. "I hope one day

You'll join us, and this world will live
