“You have the right to remain silent, isn’t that what you should be saying?” Adrian said, ignoring the cops. His gaze was straight at the mirror wall behind them. Wait for it, he thought. The game has only just started.
The cops followed his eyes and shrugged. “He’s not saying anything without his lawyer, chief.”
Moments later the door was thrown open with a band and a wide shouldered middle aged man in a too slick suit entered the interrogation room. “Scram! I’ll handle this,” he snarled at the uniforms, then switched off the recorder.
The chief sat on the edge of the table, depriving the people behind the glass of their view of the prisoner. “No one needs hear this,” he whispered at Adrian. “We have exactly three minutes before one of these pencil pushers has plucked the commissioner from behind her mahogany desk. When Mrs. Bitch gets here, all deals are off.”

English: Nienke has published flash fiction and short stories in numerous magazines and anthologies in Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands in the past year. With her historical background she loves to write about ancient times and heroes of the past. Her story about Ancient Egypt is now a Flemish Film in primary schools in Belgium. She has won awards in writing contests and is named ‘the promise of the year 2015’ by CapslocSpeak. She has published in the Fantasy Yearbooks of Ganymedes and Fantasy Strijd Brugge but also appears in literary magazines like Azra. Only writing for a short while her short stories are already published in four countries and she is proud of her English publications with JWKfiction.com. Nederlands: Als historica schrijft ze het liefst historische verhalen. Haar kinderverhaal over het Oude Egypte met de titel ‘En met de regen kwam de wind’, werd in het schooljaar van 2014-2015 uitgegeven als Vlaams Filmpje. Haar verhaal over de kinderoffers in het Oude Carthago schittert in het jaarboek voor fantasy Ganymedes-14. Onlangs publiceerde ze haar scriptie over de martelaren van de Vroegchristelijke kerk in prozavorm: Johannes 14:6. Verder zijn haar verhalen te lezen in talloze verhalenbundels, literaire tijdschriften en jaarboeken in Nederland, België, Polen en sinds kort zelfs in de VS.
