A group of college friends graduate and decide to take an epic journey over the summer to relax, have fun and enjoy their freedom.

    Episode One-Inspiration Hits

Well, school’s out! Renigade said. "And I have a brilliant idea! We should all take an epic journey together somewhere. You know? An amazing trek to celebrate our freedom.

Who all would be going, because you KNOW I don’t get along with well Gypsy, said Kristy.

Maybe Gypsy has changed. She’s older and wiser now.

Kristy just sighed. Really? We’ve been out of school 2 days, so she’s 2 days older.

Okay, so not too much wiser but still….

So a road trip means just that. We drive somewhere … on roads … in a car.

Renigade made a pouty face. So no 5-Star hotels?

Nope, I just got a new car. Let’s just drive it, Kristy said tossing her keys in the air.

Off the two of them went to Gypsy’s house. Gypsy was surprised to see the girls. Hey, come in, she exclaimed, What have you been up to since the physics classroom burned down?

Reni strolled past and fell on Gyspy’s couch. Life’s boring. That’s what.

We should go somewhere, like a mini-vacation. Take advantage of finally being out of school. You know? Pretend it’s Spring Break, suggested Kristy.

Where? Where should we go? asked Gypsy.

Reni shrugged. Let’s call Passionflower. She travels a lot and always knows where to find a great deal on a getaway package.

Kristy dug her cell phone out of her pocket and dialed. Hey, Passionflower, what have you been up to since the physics class burned down?….. Yeah, me too. Know what you mean there. ……What’s his name? He sounds cute. ……. Yeah, me and Reni are over at Gypsy’s. We’re talking about going someplace for a short vacation. ….. The Grand Canyon? I always wanted to see Hawaii myself. ….. Okay, see ya in a minute.

    She hung up.

Well? the girls all waited, curious.

    She’s coming over, Kristy announced.

The girls went to the kitchen to make a batch of margaritas, laughing all the way about that look on their teacher, Mrs. Andrew’s face when Sanjay could finally speak and yelled, ‘The school’s on fire’.

With drinks in hand they returned to the living room just as the doorbell rang. Gypsy opened the door.

Hey Gypsy! greeted Passionflower. She grabbed Gypsy’s drink as she swished by. Thanks! Yum! Hey girls! What’s up?

While Gypsy returned to the kitchen to get herself another margarita, Reni and Kristy explained about pretending it’s Spring Break and going on a little vacation over the summer.

Sounds like a shitload of fun to me, girls. Where are we going? Passionflower asked."

That’s why we called you, replied Reni. Got any suggestions?

Oh hell yeah! Has to be a tropical climate if I’m going though.

Kristy grimaced. Who invited you, girlfriend?

Kristy, get a grip. You guys won’t have half the fun unless you take Passionflower along, Pash said, giggling.

Gypsy returned from the kitchen. Okay, what are we discussing?

We’re talking tropical climates, Passionflower answered.

We could wear our bikinis on a beach somewhere, Reni said like she’d just gotten some kind of amazing inspiration.

    Hawaii? Kristy asked.

Too expensive. Too many tourists. Too over-done, replied Passionflower.

Just then the phone rang and Gypsy picked it up. Hello Um, hi Candy Jo. How are you?

It’s Candy Jo, Gypsy whispered to everyone. She returned to her phone conversation. Oh yeah? Well, neat. What am I doing? Gypsy made a face and motioned to the others, then whispered, She wants to know what I’m doing?

    Reni shrugged. Just tell her.

Gypsy wrinkled her nose and said to Candy Jo, A few of the girls stopped by for margaritas. …. Well, it’s not so much that we didn’t invite you. They just showed up unexpectedly. Really? ….. Well, of course you’re welcome to stop by. …. Okay, see you in a few. Gypsy hung up the phone.

She’s coming over? Kristy asked stunned.

Gypsy sighed. Oh yes … afraid so.

I don’t know why you guys are still angry with Candy Jo, Passionflower remarked settling into an armchair.

She burned the freakin’ school down! Reni exclaimed.

Yeah and over a boy, Kristy added.

All right, granted, but she didn’t do it on purpose. It’s not like she’s some insane arsonist. Just boy crazy, Passion answered.

Well, what are we going to do about the trip? I mean, should we discuss it in front of her? Kristy asked.

Kristy is right, said Gypsy, Candy Jo’s feelings will be hurt if she knows we’re going someplace and we don’t invite her.

Guess we’ll have to tell her, Reni said sort of shrugging.

Just then, they all heard a car door slam outside. Gypsy walked to the window. It’s her. Make up your minds now.

I say we tell her and invite her along, said Passion.

    Whatever, said Kristy shrugging.

Candy Jo had barely knocked on the door when Gypsy threw the door open. Hi, come on in.

Hi girls, Candy Jo said shyly. How’s everyone? She smiled raising her eyebrows, hoping for a positive response. You guys aren’t still mad at me about the whole school-building-burning-down thingy, are you?

Now, why ever would we be angry about that? Kristy asked, glaring at the newest arrival.

Passion walked over to give Candy Jo a hug. Well, I’m glad to see you, girl. Let’s go get you a margarita.

The two of them wandered down the hall toward the kitchen while the other girls stayed in the living room to argue about inviting Candy Jo on their trip. When they returned, the room got quiet.

Well, girls, I’ll bet Candy Jo knows some great vacation spots, said Passion.

Vacation? Candy Jo seemed taken with the idea. I love to travel. Who all is going and where?

We’re still in the planning stages, answered Reni. Passion wants to go someplace warm.

Sounds amazing, said Candy Jo. I used to live in Florida. I love those tropical climates myself. Not that I’d be going along or anything.

Now you know you’re always welcome to go with us anywhere we might be going, said Passion smiling sweetly.

In a tiny voice, Candy Jo replied, No one’s still mad at me?

Of course not, Passion said hugging Candy Jo, but the others girls were a bit stand-offish.

How about Jamaica then? Candy Jo suggested. Very warm and gorgeous beaches.

I’m starving, Kristy interjected. Couldn’t we discuss this over lunch?

Everyone agreed and decided to strike out for the local Chile’s. When they arrived, Reni nudged Kristy, Hey, isn’t that Adam’s orange Corvette over there?

All the girls jerked their heads around. It IS Adam’s ‘vette, Candy Jo purred as all the girls began to crawl out of Gypsy’s SUV.

He’s cute, plus a good singer, Reni said as she hurried for the restaurant door.

Hey, wait on us, Passion called, but it was too late. Candy Jo was already inside the restaurant checking faces till she spotted Adam.

Rushing over to his table, she exclaimed, Guess what? We’re all going on a Road Trip.

Wow! Where to? Adam answered peeking over the rim of his martini glass.

You could say hi to me, TimmyT said interrupting.

Oh hi, Timmy, Candy Jo said, returning her stare to Adam.

So…how you been, Adam? Candy Jo asked demurely.

Under his breath, Timmy mumbled in a mocking voice, How you been, Adam, you big hunky bow-legged musician?

Adam gave Timmy a mean glare. I’m fine, my dear Candy Jo. How have you been? I’ve missed you. Tell me about this ‘Road trip’.

Just then Passion came up behind Candy Jo. They’re seating us now. Time to go, sweetie. She nods at both men, Hi boys. What’s up?

Hi, Passion, Timmy says suddenly all smiles.

    Hi Timmy. Been missing you.

Kristy walked up behind Passion. Yeah, it’s too bad about our school building being burnt down, isn’t it, Candy Jo?

Passion twirled around. Kristy, are you ever gonna let it go? Besides, it was only the Physics classroom and a little of the biology lab.

I’m glad school’s over. I’m getting a bunch of new songs written, Adam said interrupting.

Yeah, whatever, Timmy said with some aggravation in his voice. He signaled the waitress to bring him another gin and tonic.

Well, guess we should get over to our table, Candy Jo said to Adam. As she turned to leave, she made a cute little waving gesture to Adam.

Can Adam go with us? Candy Jo wanted to know as soon as she got to the table where the other girls were.

No way! Girls only, said Kristy matter-of-factly.

I’m afraid I have to agree with Kristy, said Reni.

Me too, Candy Jo. Sorry, said Gypsy.

Majority rules, said Passion. No men. Of course that doesn’t mean we can’t pick a few up along the way and have some fun with them.

Now. Only one thing left to decide, said Gypsy. "Where are we going?"

    Episode Two

Candy Jo Packs Her Louis Vuitton~Reni Leaves A Cute Blonde at Home!

Whadya’ think? asked Reni all anxious.

Sure, it’ll be fine, answered Gypsy.

What? What will be fine? asked Candy Jo. She was stuffing a few more pairs of shoes into her luggage while the other girls rushed about doing their last minute things.

Passionflower showed up at the bedroom door, a margarita in one hand, a road atlas in the other. Reni’s worried about leaving her hubby and the kids for a few weeks.

She hired a nanny, didn’t she? asked Candy Jo, finally pulling the zipper closed on her suitcase.

Oh yeah, real nice girl, answered Reni.

Girl? said Kristy, coming up behind Passion.

She’s going to move into the house so it will be easier on James and the kids while I’m gone, said Reni.

How old is this ‘girl’? asked Passion

    Twenty-three, answered Reni.

Alarmed, all the ladies exchanged anxious glances.

But she’s fat, right? asked Passion.

No. Slender and blonde, answered Reni. Do you think I should be worried?

Why didn’t you hire someone old and fat? asked Gypsy.

Reni’s face was flushed with worry. Old and fat? She said the words as if the idea had just occurred to her.

It’ll be fine, said Candy Jo. She walked over to give Reni a hug. You trust James, right?

Kristy snickered and punched Passion in the back, as the other women traded uneasy stares.

I’m going to check the road atlas for the best highway outta here, said Passion.

    I’ve got GPS, Reni replied.

Not the same. I love me a good old fashioned road atlas.

The other girls headed to the living room, leaving Candy Jo to console Reni.

Once in there, Gypsy whispered, Yow-ie! Young and blonde.

Passion raised her eyebrows, Houston, we have a problem!

The other girls giggled in low tones.

Lemme see that map, Kristy said to Passion.

Passionflower opened the road atlas on the coffee table of the living room, while the girls gathered around kneeling in the floor.

Where is the Grand Canyon anyway? asked Gypsy.

Nevada or someplace like that, answered Kristy.

I thought it was in New Mexico, said Gypsy.

What? answered Candy Jo entering the room.

    How is she? asked Passion.

She’ll be okay, Candy Jo answered. She saw the road atlas open on the coffee table and knelt in the floor beside the other girls.

We’re looking for the Grand Canyon, Kristy told her.

Geez, I thought it was a pretty big place, said Candy Jo. Doesn’t seem like it would be all that hard to find. She pulled the atlas over to her and turned it around.

Oh yeah, see here … we leave Dallas on this highway, go all the way up here to Amarillo and then just take a left … wahlah! We’re there! She seemed so proud of herself. I just don’t see why we can’t fly.

Now Candy Jo, we talked about that, Passion answered gently. We’re driving because we want this time to bond, plus we’ll enjoy visiting all these cities along the way.

Plus we did rent that Cadillac Escalade just for you, Candy Jo, added Gypsy. It has a television, video games, leather seats … and it’s large and roomy.

But airplanes are so much faster, Candy Jo whined.

But we’re not in a hurry on this vacation, said Kristy. We’re taking our time and having all the fun possible.

Think of all those little bars we’ll visit along the way, said Passion all glossy-eyed. All those cowboys … hmmm. She sighed long and lustily.

Fine, then, said Candy Jo. We’re freakin’ driving. She pointed at the map. All we do is go to Kansas and take a left, right?

Not Kansas, sweetie, answered Gypsy. Amarillo.

Whatever, said Candy Jo. I’m going to pack my Louis Vuitton.

When Candy was out of earshot, Passion whispered, I really do see how she managed to burn down the school now.

    The other girls giggled.

Meanwhile, back at Adam’s apartment, he and TimmyT were devising a plan of their own. I took two weeks off work for this shit, Timmy said. Why can’t we just go to Vegas and spend our time and money gambling. The babes out there are freakin’ amazing!

Adam checked his pocket for keys and picked up his duffle bag. Tim, this is gonna be the adventure of a lifetime.

Following five women across country? If that’s your idea of fun, then I need to get a new compadre and you need a brain transplant.

Adam had tried reasoning with Timmy before but suddenly, he got an inspiration. Hey, you know how you love those spy movies? Why don’t you treat this like a spy adventure and you can write the whole story while we’re traveling.

Hmmm…write a spy novel? I’d have to do a lot of embellishing, so that it would be much more entertaining, not just a bunch of women driving to Arizona in an SUV.

Of course you would. You write great fiction, Timmy. You could use the little things that happen each day and just build on them—stopping for gas, one of them is accosted in a public restroom and has a narrow escape.

I would have made a great James Bond, you know, Timmy told Adam poking out his chest.

No doubt about it, Adam agreed.

    I’ll need some special equipment.

Adam narrowed his stare. What type of equipment?

You know? Infrared binoculars and cameras. Maybe we should bug their car.

Adam was happy to see his little idea working so well, but beginning to worry that Timmy might be going overboard with the spy idea.

Do I have time to run down to the electronics store? Timmy asked.

Adam looked at this watch. Sure, I guess so.

Timmy hauled ass for the front door. I might drive by the army/navy store too. And he was gone in a flash.

    Episode Three

Timmy Installs A Listening Device Inside The Girl’s SUV

When Timmy returned he was laden down with boxes of gadgets. He spread it all out on the kitchen table, putting batteries in things as he sorted thru the stuff.

Adam returned from the garage. The car’s all packed; the house sitter’s been notified. We’re set. You ready?

Timmy hardly glanced up from his gadgets. Hmmm…yeah…just another minute.

    What all you got there?

Timmy held up a square, silver object. Mmmm….well….this little baby will give us their location from anywhere in the world. This one, audio feed from inside their car.

Inside? How are you going to install it?

Timmy glanced up with the look of Dr. Frankenstein about to pull the switch. See? Now that’s the beauty part. It will take some major espionage simply to get this installed inside their vehicle.

Ah gee, Tim, I’m not so sure that’s such a goo….

And this one here…wait‘ll you see what this little baby will do.

    Meanwhile, back at Passion’s house:

That’s the last of the luggage, announced Reni.

Did you get my Gucci bag? Candy Jo wanted to know.

Yes, darlin’. It’s in there. Along with your hair and skin care products, your cashmere jacket in case it’s chilly, fourteen pairs of shoes and sandals and I’m just off to disconnect that kitchen sink and throw it in the back as well, said Passion grimacing.

Could we go? asked Kristy. Could we just go? God…please let us go…now!

Do you think I’ll need my Donna Karan dress? asked Candy Jo.

Kristy gritted her teeth and muttered these words to Gypsy, who was digging thru her purse for lipstick. If she puts one more thing in that car, I’m going to run over her.

Gypsy fought back laughter. I’m sure she doesn’t own anything else, she whispered. Kristy giggled.

Okay. Is everyone ready? Passion asked the girls.

They each stood in the garage, around the Cadillac
