About this ebook

Why do I exist? The answer to that question has led many to feelings of depression, hopelessness, and, in some cases, suicide. For years I thought people did not know the love others had for them and I set out to remedy the problem by giving more of myself in hopes they would realize their worth. The missing ingredient, however, was not love - it was purpose.

Humans are not accidents or some coincidence of evolution. We are products of divine design. Our quest is to find our purpose and fulfill it . Purpose cannot be found in the media or through our hard work. It is hidden for us in the heart of God. The only access to that plan is through the doorway of fellowship with Him. Your purpose is waiting...will you pursue it?

The Eternal Purpose of Mankind - David Natali

    Conclusion

    Introduction

Faint music is humming from the speakers out on the sales floor. The air is stagnant with the smell of leather and rubber, and not a customer has come in for at least a couple of hours. Here I am, silently rocking in the office chair at a tiny, cluttered desk, covered in papers, pens, display accessories and shoe laces, tucked into a lonely corner of the inventory room. But I’m not alone.

The God of all creation, the great I Am, is here with me, the manager of this boring little shoe store, having a conversation.

This was after my wife and I had graduated from Bible School and we were just kind of starting off our life as real adults. I had a lot of time to just sit alone and think, to talk with God. The nature of my job made it easy for me. I had managed two locations of the same store during this period of time, and everyone I met had a unique story and perspective on life. Some of them worked for me, and some of them worked at the neighboring stores in the malls.

In all the downtime, there was a lot of time to talk. Having come fresh out of ministry school, I had a passion to share with people about the Bible. I got a lot of different responses, and a lot of times I just ended up really frustrated. I was challenged with how to share what I had inside of me with such a diverse group of people who all had different opinions and experiences with the subject. Many would just focus on one little part that really bothered them, and it would be hard to get past that one thing. I remember one person who could not get over the thought that an all-loving God would send a flood to drown the majority of the human race. No matter how much I would bring up the goodness of God, she was always hung up on that story.

How could I show how that story and similar ones fit into the whole scope of things and still stay consistent with the character of a good God? To even begin to start to understand the things of God, I’ve had to zoom out and look at the BIG picture. I’ve always thought this way, and it has been helpful for me in understanding all kinds of things that happen in life. It has been an effective way to keep cool-headed and follow wisdom when ministering with people or in raising a family.

When I would talk to my co-workers or neighbors and they would be stuck on a small point of detail, I saw that this was actually a negative thought process. They didn’t zoom out and see the big picture on this, the big picture of grace. When my friend couldn’t see past the story of Noah, I realized it wasn’t even really her fault. There was a need to present a more well-rounded viewpoint of God for people to see and have some why’s and how’s actually answered.

I had lengthy discussions both with people who disagreed or couldn’t accept the Bible, and with many believers. At one point, every employee in my store was a student at the main Bible school in the city. The most heated, aggravating debates were with these people. In my frustration a lot of questions cropped up in me, and in the quiet time I would debate in my own head. I turned to God and His Word for answers so that I could have an answer and not just hit a stalemate with these people, or with myself. The more people I spoke with, the more I found that it was much more than just cold knowledge or information that was needed to have someone actually hear what I was trying to say. The truth is that when it comes to God, He is much more than the knowledge and information we have about Him, and any knowledge without purpose is worthless. Again, I would zoom out and look at the big picture. Unless I began to speak directly into hearts and find destiny and purpose, any information I could give to people was meaningless.

In the middle of all of this I discovered a common thread. Regardless of what someone believed, I found time and time again that people did not have an answer as to why they existed. The Christians I spoke to did not have a solid answer on why God had created them! I knew within myself that there had to be a common truth to the existence, destiny, and purpose of all of us. I wondered what it would look like if millions of people all saw the same truths together. What would it look like if we really knew why we were here? Could this be one reason why people of all belief systems are still depressed and hopeless, sometimes even to the point where it seems better to take their own lives? For years I was taught that people lacked love, and I agreed. I assumed that the remedy was to give more of myself over to this person or to that person and they wouldn’t feel so worthless. In the scope of the big picture I discovered a great truth: it was not love alone that these people were missing - it was purpose.

The way that we are created and wired requires purpose to unfold through loving relationships that help fulfill that purpose.

When I teach on this subject I begin with one question: Why were you created? The most common answer is, to have a relationship with God. My response is to kindly disagree. The relationship is the necessity for the purpose. So then what is the purpose?

Let’s go back to that stuffy little shoe store. It was here that I heard the Holy Spirit speak to me concerning our purpose. Out of nowhere He asked me a question that I will never forget, and what followed led me into years of study: What was Lucifer doing before mankind was created?

I unearthed truths that I had rarely heard taught. It’s my earnest prayer that the Holy Spirit opens hearts and minds to these truths as we journey together into our eternal purpose.

    Section 1 – Questions

    Chapter 1

    What Was Lucifer Doing?

What was Lucifer doing before Adam and Eve were created? Why did God choose to place mankind right where this fallen angel was hanging out? I quickly realized that these were questions most people had a hard time answering. I found out that those who already had their minds made up actually became upset with these questions.

The Holy Spirit led me to 1 Corinthians 2:14 in the Amplified Bible, Classic Edition…

But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them (of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them) because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.

How many times do we try to understand the things of God without using our spirits? I needed to be reminded that the average person perceiving these things with only his or her mind would call what I was being shown as nonsense. God began to personally comfort me through the entire second chapter of 1 Corinthians. I knew this revelation would change lives for eternity!

These following passages of Scripture in Ezekiel and Isaiah will continue to be referred to for the entirety of this book. These are the anchors to what God is showing us about our destiny and purpose.

    Ezekiel 28:12-26 (NKJV)

    12

Son of man, take up a lamentation for the king of Tyre, and say to him, ‘Thus says the Lord God: You were the seal of perfection, Full of wisdom and perfect in beauty.

    13

You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes Was prepared for you on the day you were created.

    14

"You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you; You were on the holy mountain of God; You walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

    15

You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created, Till iniquity was found in you.

    16

    "By the abundance of your trading You became filled with violence within, And you sinned; Therefore I cast you as a profane thing Out of the mountain of God;

And I destroyed you, O covering cherub, From the midst of the fiery stones.

    17

"Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.

    18

"You defiled your sanctuaries By the multitude of your iniquities, By the iniquity of your trading; Therefore I brought fire from your midst; It devoured you, And I turned you to ashes upon the earth In the sight of all who saw you.

    19

All who knew you among the peoples are astonished at you; You have become a horror, And shall be no more forever.

    Another version reads as follows:

    Ezekiel 28:12-19 (AMPC)

    12

Son of man, take up a lamentation over the king of Tyre
