I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused and hope I do much better with future book releases. Thank you for you understanding and patience. Savvy I began writing almost 20 years ago but only recently decided to publish. Writing has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of my life. It has allowed me to experience knew things, transported me to new places and allowed me to meet knew people. I also enjoy photography, graphic arts, and many other forms of artistic expression. I created the cover for Dreams and have created the cover for the next three novels in the series. Because I am usually behind the camera rather in front of it, I do not have an author's photo I can put up but I am working to correct this and hope to have it up soon. I have been married for nearly 25 years to my best friend, adventure/travel partner, confidant and greatest critic, Caleb. We have a unique relationship in that we do everything together. I call Caleb my greatest critic because he only wants the best for me and is always willing to give me honest feedback concerning my writing. We live in the Deep South, for now, but have lived all over the US and Germany. We have two Black Labrador Retrievers we adopted from rescue shelters. One is a full Black Lab and the other is a Lab/Australian Dingo mix. Thank you for your interest in my books, I look forward to giving you many years of enjoyable reading. The Gods

    Celtic Pantheon

Morrigan - Queen of the Celtic Gods, Goddess of War and Death, Supreme Warrior Goddess. Married to the Daghda. A shapeshifting War Goddess of Sensuality, Magic, Prophecy, Revenge, and War. Known as Great Queen, Supreme War Goddess, Queen of Phantoms, and Specter Queen. She kept company with Fea (hateful), Badb (fury), and Macha (battle). Also known as a Triple Goddess from Maiden, Mother and Crone. Patroness of priestesses and witches.

Aine of Knockaine - Queen of the Faeries. Goddess of Love and Fertility. Once had a love affair with Eros, God of Love and Excess. Eros often comes back to Aine to clean up his messes, because he knows she can’t refuse since she was accidentally shot with one of his golden arrows. Aine is working on removing this curse, but for now is bound to Eros’ will.

Mabh - Pronounced Meev. The Wolf Queen, ruler of the Wolf Shifters. A demigod of the Fey people, and Queen of the Dark Faeries. She is the maternal half-sister to Aine, Queen of the Faeries, and Morrigan, Supreme Warrior Goddess, Queen of the Celtic Gods. Mabh is known to have a quick temper when her wolves are threatened. A powerful dark majick user but not necessarily considered evil. She is logical and methodical, and is not to be trifled with. She has a powerful hatred of all things Greek, especially Aphrodite and Eros.

Aes Sidhee Fey - Pronounced ‘Ess Shee’ - Believed to be the ancestors, the spirits of nature, or the Goddesses or Gods themselves. In truth, they are not only the Gods, but are the ancestors, the holders of the Secrets of the Fey, the ruling houses of all of the Fey. However, not all Gods are of the blood of the Aes Sidhee Fey.

Tuatha de Danann - Believed to be the oldest and most powerful bloodline of all the Aes Sidhee Fey. Morrigan, Aine, and Mabh are of this lineage. The Tuatha de Danann are the Gods, Goddesses, Queens, Kings, and Warriors of the Celtic Pantheon. It is said they were defeated and consigned to mythology. In truth, they went underground and ruled the Fey with an iron fist, tempered only with a small modicum of love for their kind. They are known to pass harsh judgments to those who break their laws.

Sylph - During the war in which the Tuatha de Danann were said to be defeated, the Warriors were struck down by a curse, in the form of a deadly virus, dealt by their enemies. The warriors fought valiantly, but in the end succumbed to the majick of the curse. Many warriors were lost. The few who survived lost their majickal powers in their realm. Not willing to destroy their brothers and sisters, The Tuatha de Dannan sent them to the human realm to be watchers and guardians. Their powers may have been rendered mute, but they were still warriors with untold prowess and strength. Once on earth, a small contingent of the warriors realized they were no longer powerless, but had dominion over the air. These warriors became known as the Sylphs, the most dangerous and uncontrollable of all the Fey. The Tuatha de Danann felt the only recourse for these rogue fey was to hunt them down and destroy them. The Sylph disbanded, going their separate ways in hopes of surviving the death sentence cast upon them from their Gods. In the end, less than a dozen survived and are in hiding today.

    Greek Pantheon

Zeus - God of the Sky and ruler of the Olympian Gods. Father of Aphrodite

Aphrodite - Goddess of Love, Desire and Beauty. Mother of Eros

Eros - Primordial God of Love. Carries a double-stringed bow and, depending on his arrows, can make any soul fall in love or become cold and indifferent. The story goes Aphrodite was jealous of the beautiful human princess, Psyche. She ordered her son, Eros, to make Psyche fall in love with the most hideous creature on Earth. When Eros sets out to fulfill his mother’s command, he accidentally pricks his thumb with his own arrow and, thus, becomes a victim of his own magic; thereby, falling in love with Psyche. The same arrow that pricked Eros’ thumb hits its target, Psyche’s heart. The two fall madly in love, and Eros carries her off to his opulent abode, making her his wife. A short time later, Psyche’s jealous sister led Psyche into betraying Eros, which in turn made him abandon Psyche, leaving her to roam the Earth without him. After much strife and arguing and Psyche begging, Aphrodite eventually caved and set up a series of tests for Psyche to complete to prove her fidelity. Psyche completes each test successfully, thereby forcing Aphrodite to uphold her vow to make Psyche immortal, thus reuniting Eros and his bride. Don’t think the story is a happy one. Although Eros and Psyche are madly in love with each other, they don’t really like one another most days and fight constantly. What do you expect when one is the God of Love, Desire, and Excess, and the other is touted to be more beautiful and desirable than Aphrodite herself?

    The Legend of the Wolf

Rumor has it, Aphrodite was once exiled from Mount Olympus by Zeus. She ran to her friend Branwen, a minor Celtic Goddess of Love and Beauty. While staying in the Celtic Gods’ realm, Aphrodite’s eye was caught by a handsome Aes Sdhee named Mynogan.

Mynogan only had eyes for his mate Keeva and rebuffed Aphrodite's declarations of love. Enraged at being rejected, Aphrodite set out to destroy Mynogan and Keeva and enlisted the aid of Eros, commanding he shoot his lead arrows at the couple to turn their love to hatred. Eros’ aim was true and his lead arrow pierced Mynogan’s heart with the first shot. As everyone knows if one of Eros' lead arrows penetrates the heart, the victim's heart will turn cold as stone and, eventually, the blow will kill them.

As the lead infected Mynogan’s heart, he became cold and embittered toward all that loved him, and those he loved. His only and much beloved daughter, Grainne, saw what was happening to her father and, in an act of pure selflessness, offered herself to the Gods if only they would cure her father’s heart. Her offer of sacrifice was so pure and great the Gods felt moved to grant her her wish, but with one condition: Grainne would not die in her father’s place, but would be transformed into a shifter being and forever be separated from her loving family.

Mabh, Queen of the Dark Faeries, was so outraged that the pure love and sacrifice of a child would be handled so callously, she took Grainne into her home as her adopted daughter. As the centuries passed, Grainne flourished. Mabh was a wonderfully attentive mother, but there was something missing in her beloved daughter’s life. Knowing Grainne as she did, Mabhe set out to bring her daughter true happiness. Mabh searched the majickal and human realms for a companion worthy of a heart as pure as Grainne’s. After many centuries, she found Owyn Ap Nels.

Owyn was a human man known for his fierce protectiveness, loyalty and strength. Mabh was certain he was the perfect match for Grainne. As the legend goes, it did not take long before the two fell deeply in love. However, there were obstacles that had to be overcome in order for the young lovers to remain together. Grainne was cursed to be a shifter, which prevented her from mating with a human. Grainne was also an immortal and could not die a natural death. Loving a mortal, she would soon find herself alone once again.

Owyn, willing to sacrifice anything to be with Grainne, went to Mabh for help. Mabh, unable to reconcile her daughter being unhappy for even one additional day, cast a spell to change Owyn to a shifter being. As a human, the spell only allowed him one additional form, other than human. Owyn’s own nature of being protective, loyal and strong chose the form he would have, that of the wolf.

Loving Owyn as she did, Grainne gave up her ability to shift into other forms. Knowing the couple would only have the short span of Owyn’s human life to be together, Mabh cast an old dark majick spell linking Owyn’s mortal life to Grainne’s immortality, allowing the two to live many centuries longer than was natural. Not wanting Grainne to lose her mate and be heartbroken, Mabh cursed them twice. The first curse ensured only mated pairs could bear offspring. The second would cause the mated pair to die together.

Mabh’s interference with the natural order of a human’s life made it possible for Owyn and Grainne to be the first mated wolf shifter pair and, thus, made Mabh the Queen of the Wolves. Having linked the pair’s life forces together, Mabh had created a species of wolves that required the linking of lifelines to their destined mate. As wolves are known to be territorial creatures and tend to stay in one geographical location, this created a problem of finding true mates. Without a mated pair, there could be no children, leaving more and more wolves to live a lonely, barren existence.

Owyn and Grainne eventually had two sons. Filtiarn, the eldest, embraced his wolf and fathered the shifter packs. Weylyn, the second son, turned away from his wolf, creating a shiftless species of wolf shifters who lived only as humans.

As more centuries passed, Mabh watched as her beloved wolves became desperate for mates. This desperation led to aggressive behavior, and finally culminated in the hunting down of the wolves by the Sidhe. The Sidhe were a warrior class of Fey who were comfortable in the role of judge, jury, and executioner. The wolves dwindled down to small packs spread throughout the human realm. In a final effort to save her wolves, Mabh cast one last dark majick spell which allowed the decedents of Weylyn to mate and procreate with the shifter wolves, thus ensuring the continuation of the species.

As time passed, fewer and fewer of Weylyn’s decedents made themselves known. With the two lineages not connecting, Weylyn’s grandchildren became lost to the packs, bringing the wolves right back to their original plight. No mated pairs meant no children. No children meant no mated pairs.

    Knockaine

    Temple of the Faeries

    Prologue

Of all the arrogant, ego-maniacal, vainglorious...

    Aine, wait up.

    Nefarious, reprehensible, outlandish, licentious....

Aine! I said to hold up.

    Weaseling, no-good, son-of-a....

    AINE!

The commanding voice of Morrigan stopped Aine in her tracks. She turned to face the rather angry looking Goddess of War, a.k.a. the Queen of the Gods. Yes?

I’ve been trying to get your attention since I saw you storm across the training grounds of the Great Hall. Caedmon nearly lost an arm protecting you from being sliced in two by a sword.

Aine looked around, realizing she was standing at the foot of the Temple of Faeries. She hadn’t even realized she had walked this far.

You were making me run, and you know I never run.

Aine rolled her eyes at the lame joke. Morrigan was the Goddess of War. She was not known for conceding a battle or tucking tail and running.

You should have listened to me all those millennium ago.

Please, can we skip the part where you tell me I told you so? I’ll just jump in here and say, again I might add, that you were right, Morrigan. I should have never taken Eros as a lover.

I never said you shouldn’t take him as a lover. I told you to stay the hell away from his arrows. I told you I’d had a vision of what would happen and you ignored me.

Sorry. Aine’s shoulders slumped and tears sprang to her eyes.

Oh, I know that weepy look.

    I’m not weepy. Aine sniffled.

Oh, no. Not at all. Morrigan placed her arm around her and began steering her toward the path that would lead them away from Aine’s Temple.

I need to... Aine looked around again. Where are we going?

To the Coven. I think it is time for your protection stones to be cleansed. Morrigan pulled Aine to a stop. She tapped the banded agate bracelet on Aine’s wrist, and then the golden girdle and belt encrusted with imperial topaz she wore over her emerald gown. How long has it been since you had the psychic energy removed from your protection crystals? Morrigan leveled a knowing glare at her. She didn’t wait for Aine to answer. We had these items created so you could ward off the effects of that damn arrow of Eros’. She wrapped her arm around Aine and began walking again. Perhaps the witches will know of something stronger that can be added.

I hate him. You know that right?

    Yes, I know.

You should have let me have my revenge for what he did.

Aine, it was not feasible to allow you to kill Eros. If I had let you kill him when he scratched you with his arrow, you would have mourned yourself to death. I could not allow that, sister. Morrigan gave Aine a tight squeezing hug before dropping her arm from the other woman’s shoulders and continuing to walk. We punished him the only way we could.

Aine smiled as she kept pace with Morrigan. Yes, she thought, they had.

When Eros scratched Aine with his golden arrow and she fell under the enchantment of it, she had thought she would die when he left to go back to Olympus. When Morrigan had found her crying over Eros’ abandonment, she had taken Aine to Merlin’s sorceresses. They had called in the Coven to create jewelry, armor, and a crown made of protection minerals and crystals to help ward off the effects of Eros’ arrow.

Once Aine was back in her right mind, she vowed to seek her revenge for his carelessness and the grief he had caused her. Morrigan had foreseen if Aine killed Eros it would not only plunge the Pantheons into a bloody vicious and unwinnable war, but the death of Eros would also mark Aine for death as well. Morrigan had come up with the perfect strategy to pay Eros back when she heard of Aphordite’s jealousy of the human princess Psyche.

Aine had sent Charisma, her best Karma Faerie, to render karmic justice on Eros. Charisma had been trailing Eros for a century by the time Aphrodite jealousy erupted and she demanded Eros target Psyche. Aphrodite sent Eros out to make Psyche fall in love with the most hideous creature on Earth. When Eros drew back his bow and released his arrow, Charisma gave the arrow a karmic nudge causing it to prick Eros’s thumb.

Eros was no more immune to the power of his arrows than anyone else. When his arrow struck Psyche’s heart, their eyes were locked on one another’s. With the arrow’s majick lighting the way, they fell in love. Charisma chanted her spell over the couple and let Eros and Psyche’s karma determine their future.

Stop thinking about it. Morrigan chided.

Aine laughed. It’s hard not to think of it. He got exactly what he deserved.

Morrigan couldn’t prevent herself from laughing too. Yes, they both did. Psyche was a bit of a spoiled brat back then.

Aine nodded, her smile still firmly in place.

It was a known fact that even though Eros and Psyche truly loved one another, they didn’t actually like each other all that much. She was still spoiled and was always giving into fits of tantrums. While Eros was still the God of Love, Desire and Excess and tended overindulge at times. Their marriage was a constant cycle of strife and making up.

Aine knew she didn’t really love Eros. Her feelings were the result of being scratched by his arrow. As long as he stayed away, and she wore her protective armaments, she could think clearly and knew that to be true. However, when Eros came around seeking help or causing mischief the enchantment returned and Aine suffered. It would always be that way, at least until the Coven became strong enough to remove the spell completely. Aine looked forward to that day more than she looked forward to Eros’ head on a spike.

So, what did he want this time? Morrigan asked.

He and Psyche had a huge fight the night before Valentine’s Day. Eros said he stormed out and went to have a drink. One drink led into too many to count and before he knew it he was piss drunk and shooting lead arrows at everyone.

So that’s why Valentine’s Day sucked so badly for everyone.

    Aine nodded.

And what? He wants you to fix it?

He and Psyche made up. He doesn’t want her finding out what he’s done, so he came to me to see if I could correct his ‘mistake’.

    You’re kidding, right?

    I wish.

And naturally you said you would help him.

    I did.

Morrigan shook her head in agitation. We have to break this damn spell.

I would have helped him anyway, Morrigan. You know that. It’s not just for him. It’s for all those people who had their dreams and hearts shattered during what is supposed to be the most romantic day of the year.

So what are you supposed to do, save Valentine’s Day by St. Patrick’s Day?

    Aine cringed. Something like that.

Come on. Let’s get your crystals cleansed and have the Coven try to break this damn love spell.

I’m going to help him. You know that right?

Yes. I know. But I don’t have to like it.

    Part One

    The Dragon’s Lair

    Candice

Temple of the Faeries - Knockaine

Is there no one we can send? Aine abruptly stood from where she sat on her throne.

    No one, Mistress.

    Damn. How did this happen?

    The handmaiden shook her head.

Aine began to pace. Damn Eros.

After the Coven had cleansed Aine’s protective adornments, she had been able to think more clearly. She quickly sent her faeries out to correct Eros’s screw-up and save his victims. Now they were just days away from St. Patrick ’s Day only to find out three women suffering from his drunken shenanigans had been overlooked. What in the Otherworld was she supposed to do now?

I’m sorry, Mistress. I thought we had found all of his victims.

Aine waved her hand in dismissal. It’s not your fault, Keeva. Thank you for bringing this to my attention. You may go.

    Yes, Mistress.

Aine continued to pace, trying to come up with a way to help these three victims of Eros drunken night. She had already sent out all her available faeries, except the leprechauns. She couldn’t turn them loose on the humans until St Patrick’s Day. They would only make a bigger mess with their penchant for troublemaking.

On the heels of that thought came a solution. The trainees! She spoke aloud even though she was all alone in the throne room. Gathering her skirts she ran toward the Fey dormitories and training facility. Surely there is a few trainees that are controlled enough to help me fix this.

Mistress Aine! You have to be joking. I couldn’t possibly let a training faerie out on their own, much less three of them.

M úinteoir Shannon, I have to have someone. I can’t use the Leprechauns, you must realize that. This is the best solution we have.

Mistress, please. Ask of me anything but this.

Aine patted the arm of her head teacher of the Fey. It will be fine, Shannon. You will see.

    Shannon sighed. This way, Mistress.

Aine swallowed her smile at Shannon’s dejected tone. The Faerie was an awesome instructor in the art of Fey majick but she was such a stickler for the rules it was hard for her to step out the role.

So tell me, who are we going to use?

The only ones I can think of is Charity, Maureen, and Sheridan...Oh wait, I have someone better than Charity. We’ll use Roarke.

"Roarke!?! I just told you we couldn’t use a Leprechaun."

He’s a trainee, Mistress. He isn’t even five centuries. He hasn’t reached the age of mischief making yet.

Aine snorted. In her experience leprechauns were born mischief making.

Trust me, Mistress, Roarke will be perfect.

I want these three women healed and happy. Eros did no one any service with his drunken antics. That was the truth of it too. Psyche had found out about Eros drunkenly shooting lead arrows on Valentine’s Day. To say she was pissed was the understatement of all time. She had been harping at Eros so loud and long Aine had heard her all the way from Olympus. Although she’d never admit it, she had been listening for the explosion of Psyche’s temper tantrum.

I know. I’ve been hearing the rumblings of Olympus for two solid weeks. That is one pissed off immortal.

Yes she is. Aine smirked, but hid it quickly. "Alright, Shannon. If you think Maureen, Sheridan and Roarke are the ones then I have to trust your judgment. I haven’t been to the training grounds in a long time, remind me their talents."

Maureen is a ninth century Karma trainee. She’s nearly ready for her faerie wings. She is a good judge of character and is not easily duped. She has remarkable control and a sharp mind.

Yes, I remember her. She has a strong will too, if I remember correctly.

Shannon nodded in agreement. Sheridan is a fourth century Pixie trainee. She has a golden heart and is a firm believer in destined love. She has shown herself to be mature for her age, and smarter than anyone in her class. She’s eager to learn, and farther advanced than those of her class, too. She will make certain her charge finds the right soul.

Aine didn’t know Sheridan but if she was all that Shannon was saying then her charge would be in capable hands. "And Roarke?"

Roarke is nearly a fifth-century Leprechaun. He is strong, virile and level-headed. He isn’t one to pull pranks as many in his class are wont to do. He was born under the double moon sign and could have easily chosen to be a Karma faerie instead of a Leprechaun.

Did he give a reason for going with the Leprechauns?

    He likes the wealth.

Aine arched a brow at her head teacher. The wealth?

Yes. Whenever we’ve sent him out on assignment he always chooses a prominent, wealthy persona. He really does fill out those suits quite nicely.

Aine laughed. Well, we would hate for him to look bad in a suit.

Oh, just wait until you see him, Mistress. You’ll be fanning yourself right along with the rest of us. Shannon smiled briefly before returning to her usual pursed expression and concentrating on the problem at hand, The chosen ones will need to know the perimeters in which they are to work.

Aine thought for a moment. She had been careful in regards to what type of being the others could set their charges up with, but something about these forgotten three had her rethinking her earlier assessment.

These three women had experienced some of the worst luck imaginable. One had lost her job and then on Valentine’s Day caught her boyfriend having an affair with his best friend. She had been devastated to find out the man she loved was a closet gay. Another of the women had lost her mother to an illness last year and was having a hard time getting close to anyone new. On Valentine’s Day, she had been struck by Eros’s arrow and had run off every man who approached her since. The last of the three forgotten had gone to work on Valentine’s Day only to find the doors bolted shut and a sign saying the company was closed forever. That night as her friends had taken her out to cheer her up. She had meet whom she thought was a nice guy only to find, the morning after, he had only wanted to get her in bed. She hadn’t seen or heard from the guy since that night.

Open the field. These three ladies need a miracle. I’m just in the mood to create one for them.

Then we aren’t relegated just to human companions for them?

No. If the faeries feel someone from our world would treat these ladies better than a human then by all means see that they meet him.

As you wish, Mistress. But that could lead to a huge problem for all of us, not just Eros.

Screw Eros. I’m correcting his mistake. I say these women have had enough. They deserve the very best from here on out. My only condition is that their hearts’ desires be fulfilled.

It shall be so, my Goddess.

    Chapter 1

Sheridan watched in horror as her charge, Candice Lipton, attempted to stop the lecher sitting too close at the table with her. When Sheridan ran across the online site for Professionals Connecting she had thought it was a good way of getting Candice’s career back on track. How was she to know it was a dating site? She cringed as the man made another attempt at running his hand up Candice’s leg. Candice just managed to prevent him from sliding his cold fingers under the hem of her sharp business skirt.

This was so bad, Sheridan thought as she watched Candice perform another evasive move. She’d really screwed up this time. But who could have thought a human could move that fast.
