Three days had passed since I’d died for the second time. The hope I’d had for the big white light showing up was starting to fade at an alarming rate.

I’d watched as the paramedics had arrived to check out my body. It hadn’t taken them more than a minute or two to figure out I was dead. The sounds from Peter’s mom, the sounds of her heart breaking, was the worst thing about it all. It was like she was unwilling to believe what had happened until the paramedic had confirmed that my heart had stopped beating.

Why has this happened? she asked her husband desperately. I don’t understand how this could have happened.

Sometimes bad things happen for no reason, Peter’s dad tried to comfort her. I could see the horror in his eyes, though. He’d never before seen a person look as I did as I went from person to corpse. He’d never seen the life of a girl pooling into his bathtub. It was going to be something that would haunt him for the rest of his life. It was going to be something which
