About this ebook

What do a favor for a new friend, a problem needing solving, a quest for revenge, and a mysterious silver case have in common? They are all themes in the book "The Cellar and Other Short Stories" by Joseph L Hall.
"The Cellar" follows the story of a young soldier who believes he is the only survivor of World War 3. He is content to spend his days in solitude, scavenging for food and avoiding the monsters the war left behind until a desperate man appears and asks for his help.
"Affluenza" is the story of a grieving man who wants nothing but revenge for the loss of his family at the hands of a drunk driver and the society who makes excuses instead of punishing the wealthy.
"Special Delivery" is about a nosey new employee for an armored car service who picks up mysterious silver cases instead of money bags from local banks. All he wants to know is what's inside the case.
"Problem Solved" is about a cheating husband who wants to hire someone to kill his wife, but gets more than he bargained for when the hitman has plans of his own.

Joseph L. Hall

Joseph L Hall is an adventure and horror writer. He grew up in the Roanoke Valley where he cultivated his love for horror movies, novels and comic books at a very young age. Enamored with the work of inspirational masters such as Stephen King, George Romero, and Tom Defalco, he soon began writing his own comic books and scary stories, filling countless notebooks and jotting on any piece of paper within his grasp.Upon graduation from high school, Joseph entered the retail and restaurant industry where he remained for the better part of two decades. While he still wrote stories, his dreams of writing professionally seemed to slip further and further away. Upon the birth of his son, his world changed and he made the decision to return to school. He attended Full Sail University where he earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in Creative Writing for Entertainment.Joseph self-published his first book "The Cellar and other Short Stories" in early 2015 and is planning to release his first full-length novel, "Monsters of Heaven," in 2016. It is the tale of an ex-con seeking redemption as he attempts to lead his son and a group of survivors to safety when giant spiders descend on the vacation resort where he works. When he isn't writing, Joseph can be found battling the forces of darkness on endless adventures with his son, Juda, or spending time with his best friend and wife, Stephanie. Otherwise, he is playing more video games than one could possibly imagine.

I slam the gate just before they can make it in. Their faces, melted and featureless, press against the links until chunks of withered flesh fall to the ground. They scream and moan, but whatever passes for words are lost on me.

My pack is way too light, that 7/11 was probably picked clean after the first attack. There could be food in the storm cellar in the backyard, but I don’t
