The Rising Son

The Rising Son is a story about a teenaged boy named Vinny who has grown up inside a life of crime. Having a mob boss for a father, Vinny has learned a lot of things but love and compassion are not among his life lessons. A murderer and torturer at the age of seventeen he is sent on a job by Tony, the head of "the family". It is too little too late when he finds out that the man he killed on that job was innocent and the real culprit is none other than his father. Unshaken by his actions Vinny and his father have a standoff in which Vinny finds out that Tony has planned to make him a made man on his eighteenth birthday. His father, plagued by jealousy and genuine concern for his kid, pleads with Vinny to lead a different life. In the end Vinny's actions change his life, and his fathers life, forever.

C.S. Black grew up in a small town. When everyone else was in the neighbors business, he was lost in his imagination. He found himself heavily influenced by heroes. He-Man, She-Ra, The Transformers, and The Thundercats were all heroes. Whether it was a power or an ability they always came out on top. That was intoxicating to a kid who grew up poor and never felt special.C.S. spent some time in Los Angeles, in the music industry, working for the likes of Butch Walker and Kiefer Sutherland. Learning graphic design, social media, and marketing skills that would later serve him well in his Transmedia Storytelling career.Upon his return to his home state of Pennsylvania, C.S. enrolled at Full Sail University, earning his BFA in Creative Writing for Entertainment. In 2015, he was invited to join the Academy of American Poets. His publications include, freelance articles for ESN Interactive, an LA based company, and a short story titled The Rising Son, which is available for free download at Smashwords.As a hopeful Author, C.S. has many diverse tastes and they show in his writing. His love for science fiction came, like many before him, after seeing Star Wars for the first time. His love for the hero and exploring new worlds has spawned some of his best writing. Also, having an intense passion for the paranormal/psychological he began to branch off his writing to reflect that passion. His philosophy is as such, someone always wins; you just don't know who until the book wants you to.
