    Account of Anxiety

The café was right around the corner. The girl said she’d be sitting at a table on the patio, waiting for him.

Blaine breathed in deep, rolling his shoulders. Okay, you can do this. Provided this isn’t another ‘stand-up’ citizen. Closing his eyes and shaking his head, he berated himself. Don’t think that way! She’ll be there. She’ll be there. Taking one more deep breath, he walked around the corner, took two steps, and froze in his tracks. Sure enough, a girl sat outside of the Cashmere Café. Her gaze remained focused on her phone for a few moments, which was enough time for him to analyze if he had a shot with her. Her strawberry-blonde hair just passed her shoulders and had a light, thin quality that allowed it to float on the soft autumn breeze that blew by.

Swallowing nervously, he took a few more steps forward. She must have heard him, because her eyes snapped up to meet his. They were dark brown; deep, young, hyper, and rich, reminding him of kids hyped up on sugar and chocolate. Dark chocolate! Yeah, her eyes were the shade of dark chocolate.

As he blushed at the childish ADD thoughts racing through his mind, she called out, FosterBoss?

Blaine chuckled weakly, lifted a finger, and playfully corrected, "FosterBoss Eight-Six-Six."

The girl giggled. "Funny and cute? This is starting out better than I planned."

Muscles relaxing finally, Blaine crossed the rest of the distance and hugged her. They had been talking for weeks online, him and aireyfairy3104, aka the girl he just finished hugging. They shared a lot of interests: skateboarding, snowboarding, movies, music of all kinds, among plenty of other things.

Smiling at her, he asked, So, aireyfairy three-one-oh-four, what’s your real name?

She returned the smile. Arin. Pronounced Ay-Ar-Eye-In. I know it’s spelled weird.

But a good weird! Blaine exclaimed, A cool weird, a fun weird, a cute… Heat filled his face and he averted his gaze.

I’m glad you like it, because I do too. Come and sit down with me. Before he could react, Arin had taken his hand and led him to his seat.

So! Arin plopped down in the seat across the table. Tell me about yourself. We really only talked about our interests and day-to-day activities. I want to know the story of FosterBoss Eight-Six-Six.

Blaine’s face cracked a small smile again. He liked this chick. It’s Blaine.

She cocked her head with a furrowed brow. What’s a Blaine?

My n… He stopped when he caught her quivering expression. Eventually, her face split into a small smile. Hanging his head, he murmured, You’re messing with me, aren’t you?

Arin nodded with a laugh. Yes, Blaine, I’m messing with you. Now, story time!

Okay… His leg started to bounce up and down, and he tried not to show the annoyance on his face. I’m seventeen, go to JDM-

Oh, the talent school? Arin exclaimed loudly, That’s so cool! What are you there for?

"Music. Hoping I can make it slightly big in the area of musical
