A Big Beautiful Bride for a Lawyer: A Clean Western Historical Romance
It is 1876, and big beautiful Caroline has decided to become a Mail Order Bride.
Caroline Thompson has decided to follow in her sister’s footsteps and become a mail order bride. She found an ad for a mail-order bride in Dodge City Kansas. His name is David Frost, a lawyer in Dodge City. His only requirement was she could make good biscuits and shoot straight. Caroline definitely fits that bill. Once Caroline arrived in Dodge City, she realized how dangerous the place was but it was too late to return home. Just as they were married David was shot in the shoulder by a drunken cowboy. Instead of going to David’s ranch they would have to spend several weeks living in his law office in Dodge City. They survived an ambush from a dangerous gang unhappy with David. Unfortunately, one dark night during a snow storm a worse fate was approaching. Was David going to lose Caroline just as they had proclaimed their love for each other?

Chapter 1
Nashville, Tennessee, 1876
MAIL ORDER BRIDE WANTED: must be able to make biscuits and shoot straight. Apply in care of the Dodge City Times, Dodge City, Kansas
Caroline and Mary were walking down the dusty road in front of their Tennessee home. Their looks were as different as could be possible, Caroline was dark, with dark hair and dark eyes, rounded of figure, and slightly short. She took after Ma's side of the family. Mary was tall and round, blonde hair, blue eyes, and had a strawberry birthmark on her chin. She looked like her Pa. Neither of the girls thought they were pretty, but they were confident they were smart and could keep a home and they knew they were kind and compassionate, a requirement in their household.
Mary was questioning Caroline, Caro, do you think Amanda and Victoria are truly happy with their mail order husbands?
Caroline responded to Mary, Well if their letters are any indication. I think they seem very happy. Victoria had a tough time at first, but Amanda was head over heels in love from the beginning with the doc. Their love has just grown over the last 5 years.
Why do you ask? Are you thinking about becoming a mail order bride?
Yes, I am. I saw today's advertisement in the Tennessee Gazette, but that one didn't appeal to me. I can cook just fine, but I'm a lousy shot. You, Caroline, are a good shot. Have you thought about the advertisement?
Caroline looked pensive and said, I haven't read today's ad, but I definitely have been considering taking the same road our older sisters did. Tell me about today's ad.
Mary responded, It was just asking for someone who cooked biscuits and could shoot straight.
That's it? Just cook biscuits and shoot straight? Where was the ad from?
questioned Caroline.
Dodge City, Kansas,
replied Mary.
Dodge City, hmm. That is definitely the Wild West, I hear. I'm going to think and pray about this one,
Caroline responded. Then she tucked her head down and slowly walked back to the house, shuffling the gravel as she shambled to the homestead. She was definitely deep in thought.
Caroline was so deep in thought she missed her two younger sisters hiding in the greenery at the side of the road. She missed the two little girls slipping on their home-made war bonnets and preparing to stalk her. She felt the ping of green switches fired at her like arrows from a bow. And then she was captured! Her little sisters, Alice, and Emma, threw a lasso of weeping willow strings around her body and tied her arms to her sides.
You are our prisoner!
Emma cried out.
Caroline looked up in surprise. What? What are you doing?
Alice answered, We're wild Indians and you are our prisoner. We are taking you to the Chief to see what he wants you to do.
"And who
