I dedicate this book to my husband and three children, who lived through these experiences with me, my grandchildren who listened to these stories and my great grandchildren who will read or listen to these stories in the future. You all contributed to making my life complete and I love you. And a special thank you to Holly, my granddaughter by marriage, who took time out of her busy life to help me publish these short stories, I couldn’t have done it without her.

Moving to Star Ranch
There was a time when we lived at a beautiful camp nestled on the side of Cheyenne Mountain outside of Colorado Springs in beautiful Colorado. From the main road, you would have to drive 5 miles up Star Ranch Road, which was a winding dirt road with several sharp curves, to get to what was known as Star Ranch. It was a beautiful setting on approximately 35 acres, with lodging for 125-plus guests, and the ability to staff a volunteer work crew of 24 teenagers comprised of high school seniors. In the summer months the camp was used for teenagers from cities all around the United States who would come for a week of adventure and fun at the Ranch. They would also learn about depending on others for support, help and love, and most of all they are told about God’s love and how much He cares for us.
The Caros, a family of five, recently moved to this beautiful camp, with the responsibilities of managing the ranch and keeping it clean and looking beautiful for the teenagers that came there in the summer months. It was also available to different organizations throughout the city and surrounding areas to rent for meetings during the winter months. We lived in an apartment over the large dining hall and kitchen for the Ranch. A porch was across the whole front of the apartment, and it was fenced in and had a gate that led down the steps.
