THE PLEASURE AND THE PAIN

Now we are back home and have recovered from our amazing few days in Devon and the result from the Exeter sale, it quickly dawned on us we only had a couple of weeks to get ready before it would be our next big show and sale.

Cutting back

We had eight sheep entered in this event, six females and two males. Now we are at a certain age when we are cutting down on sheep numbers, so we had sorted out a couple of older ewes that didn’t fit in with the rest of the flock. Some of our ewe lambs are kept back each year to go into the breeding flock. They may match as lambs, but as they grow on, they can alter. These two had changed a bit and did not match coat wise so they can go.

Also, we had sorted out four ewe lambs, one older tup and one shearling tup. The shearling tup was the half-brother to the Exeter champion, and we thought he was just as good. Now if we
