FIRST DEER HUNT FIRST DEER

Alfie had recently shot his first tahr so it was my turn to have a shot at the big game on this trip. We were going into the Southern Alps on public land so Dad had told us that we may not see any deer, let alone have a chance to shoot one.

I was up at 6am on Saturday morning and Dad, Alfie and I quickly ate some breakfast. When we finished loading our gear, we said goodbye to Mum and my sister before starting our journey. On the way we picked up a pie, met up with my Dad's mate Terry and headed for the gravel road.
