Acknowledgement
Give us eyes, so we can catch a glimpse of Thee.
Give us ears, so that we can hear the messages of
Truth you have prepared.
Give us the will to acknowledge the truth and walk
In its precepts.
Give us love, that joy will always fill our hearts as You
Have filled yours with our sorrow, that the love will ignite.
Amy
To be prepared is ...well, how else can one put it; but be prepared.
Opportunity comes knocking on doors of folks who are prepared
no mater the circumstance. For instance, Amy Goodman, the esteemed
reporter and host of Democracy Now was unexpectedly graced by
the noted and familiar voice of then President Bill Clinton some
years ago. He had called in on her radio show to pitch or to urge
the audience to vote for some-one whom he wanted to see win the
upcoming election.
What followed was nothing short of an astounding feat of master journalism
and good luck. The questions she asked shook the President up. In order
not to answer some of the questions he became unkind - skirting the issues
by claiming Goodman was in essence rude.
Of course Goodman was polite. Of course Goodman did not let up. Of
course one could not get the scene out of one’s head. Goodman didn’t
have time to research anything. She was prepared. she asked tough
question - applying the principal of speaking truth to power i.e. asking
truth of power. Of course the questions came fast and furious; but polite.
So this is for you Amy - you were prepared
A Walk in the Garden
The moon stood on the garden fence:
Transfixed - starry-eyed.
Jasmine scented flowers permeates the night air,
Cool breeze on our faces and peppermint leaves
Crushed between our fingers, reveling,
Their fragrance cuddling our warm embrace.
The moon stood on the garden fence:
Transfixed – starry - eyed, as we caress the
Soul of our hearts.
Loves immersed beyond control,
Walked hand in hand along the graveled path
As we stroll, lovers in us drawn,
Frolicking in the moonlight ‘til dawn.
Arizona
Cactus, coyote, gun toting state.
Latinos are a-coming, Latinos are a-coming,
To illuminate the minds.
Latino stars to light up the night sky.
Not only the coyotes be howling,
Banned books be howling.
What a gift? A writers dream.
D.H.Lawrence is a turning,
Is a turning in the grave as they say.
What a gift? Latino stars are a-coming,
Latino stars are a-coming.
Arizona banned certain Mexican American books from the
public school system.
Arrival
One fall morning-out of nowhere
Came a hays of white fine feathery
-tene, millions and millions of them
Like mini-mini parachutes, ready for the
Tumble, meandering their way to the
Ground. They fell somberly and
