Christian stepped back from the fallen log after repositioned the four cans another time.

Come on, Chris, they look great. explained John, always impatient to start shooting.

I’m coming. Hold your fire. Let Josh and Patrick go first, said Christian, reaching for his Daisy air rifle.  

You just want us to go first because you think Pat and I can’t hit the cans, don’t you? Josh said, making a face at Christian. Come on, Pat. Let’s show those guys 

Yeah, we'll shoot all four cans down and make those guys keep setting them up, said Patrick, laughing at his own joke.

Josh sat down facing the targets. Laying the barrel of his gun on a low branch, he held his breath and aimed, trying to squeeze the trigger the way Christian had shown him. The air gun jumped and Josh let out his breath along with, Rats, missed again.

You’re trying too hard, Josh. Just relax. You still have three more shots, said Christian.

Will you guys be quiet. I’m trying to concentrate down here, said Patrick.   He was lying on his stomach, sighting along the barrel. The gun coughed, followed by a sharp metallic sound, as a can jumped from the tree. All right. Did you guys see that? Dead center, I'll bet.
