My imagination runs wild and takes me to lands that I can only dream of. I love the young adult genre and writing about far off lands and other worlds that no one has ever heard of before. I especially like books and movies where magic exists and people have special powers. I try my best to bring my readers with me as I explore those worlds and the many adventures that they entail.

    Prologue

It was an ordinary day in June. No, actually it was the best day in June. The day that every child dreams of, the reason that children start counting backwards every year around May. It was the last day of school, but not just any school, one school in particular; it was the last day of high school. A time when the kids from high school are no longer considered kids and instead are finally considered adults and expected to go and do something with their lives. This may seem exciting to most people, but for two people in particular it would prove to be the most trying, and possibly most memorable time of their lives.

Chloe Smith and Brandon Sky were two ordinary teenagers who had just turned 18 and graduated from high school. They also happened to be best friends as well. This was mostly due to the fact that they had been next door neighbors since they were little, but also partially because they were not exactly the best looking, and therefore were both outcasts from the more popular, rude, cocky people at their school. Now when I say not exactly the best looking I do not mean to say that they were ugly. Truthfully Brandon was very handsome, and Chloe had her own sense of beauty, they just chose not to keep up with the latest trends and chose to do and wear whatever was most comfortable to them, regardless of what others might say about them.

Whatever the reason may be that Chloe and Brandon became friends does not really matter because they were both the best sort of people anyone could ever meet, and they would not change their friendship for the world. They would have been friends regardless of their circumstances.

As it was, Chloe was about 5’ 7, average weight, had dirty blonde hair that fell slightly below her shoulders, and she wore glasses over her bright blue eyes since she was too lazy to keep putting her contacts in every day. Brandon on the other hand was about 6’ 1, was somewhat on the skinny side, had short slightly curly dark brown hair, and also the cutest puppy dog brown eyes you will ever see.

On this day, all that they could think about was the dark abyss known as the future that lay ahead of them. They both had no plans for their futures, and no idea of what to do with their lives. They spent the whole day trying to hang on to the past and act as though they would be returning to high school next year so as to buy them more time for planning. Fate has a funny way of intervening into people’s lives, so as they sat underneath the stars that night, they had no idea that they were about to embark on the greatest journey of their lives.

    Chapter 1

Brandon, uttered Chloe as they lay beneath the stars.

    What is on your mind?

What are we going to do? she asked.

Well first, we are going to lie here, and then we are going to look at the stars for a while, and later we could even eat some snacks, he said with a smirk and added, and I mean hey, if you want to make out a little that would be fine with me too.

Ha ha, very funny, she said sarcastically, I meant what are we going to do about the future.

I know, I was just messing with you, but seriously I think we should just do nothing, said Brandon confidently.

Nothing! said Chloe a bit louder than she had meant to. What do you mean we just do nothing?

Exactly, it’s genius really because so far whenever we have tried to do something we always ended up over analyzing everything and never ended up actually finishing anything. And be honest, even when we tried to make plans they never really worked out, they were always changed by fate. Maybe we are just destined to do nothing and sooner or later things will all just fall into place.

Fate, destiny? You sound like some cheap version of a psychic. How could you possibly believe that we are destined to do nothing? said Chloe furiously as she rambled on for about another minute before adding, I mean what do you think, that all of our fears about the future are going to be solved by doing nothing? And hey, I mean next you are going to tell me that all of the answers to my problems will fall right out of the sky, finished Chloe a bit flustered.

Umm, Chloe? said Brandon, sounding a bit timid.

    Oh what now? snapped Chloe.

Remember that thing you said a minute ago about stuff falling from the sky, well, I think that we should move…NOW! he said as he pushed Chloe out of the way of the large object that had just landed in front of them.

At first glance the object looked somewhat similar to a huge rock, but it was different somehow. Upon further inspection, it seemed extraterrestrial, as it was huge, green, and glowing. Brandon and Chloe gazed at it in astonishment.

Is that a meteor? asked Chloe while getting up.

Honestly I have no idea, but it looks pretty cool, said Brandon as he moved closer to it.

    Don’t touch it! screamed Chloe.

Why not? It looks really cool. I mean, it is green, and it is glowing; it’s just begging me to touch it, he said as he moved closer still. Oh no, the big bad rock is controlling me, said Brandon jokingly as he started to move around like a robot.

Yeah, you are so funny…NOT. Hmm, let me think, why shouldn’t you touch it, oh, you mean besides the fact that we have no idea what it is, and it could easily be radioactive or explode or who knows what else, said Chloe most insistently.

Yeah well, as convincing as that was of a speech, I think that I’ll take my chances, he said as he walked over and touched it.

No! screamed Chloe as Brandon fell to the ground. Chloe quickly ran to his side. Please be ok, she whispered, I told you not to do that, but you never listen to me.

I need, I need, said Brandon weakly.

Yes? Whatever it is, I will get it. Just stay with me. What do you need? she whispered while holding his head up.

A camera, smirked Brandon, because you should have seen the look on your face, he said, shaking from laughing so hard.

That is not funny! screamed Chloe as she dropped his head onto the ground.

Ouch, sighed Brandon as he got up, still laughing.

You are such a jerk sometimes! Chloe shouted, delivering a punch with each word.

Oh crap, he said quietly while rubbing his arm, I forgot, you punch hard.

Yeah well, don’t forget it, said Chloe angrily, and the next time that you decide to pull a prank like that, I am going to practice my kicking, and I will be sure to aim lower.

Point taken, but seriously I told you that we had nothing to worry about.

What was that? asked Chloe who was startled by a sudden loud sound nearby.

The sound seemed to be coming from the place where the object had landed. It was a sound that neither Brandon nor Chloe had heard before, but if one were to describe it, it sounded quite similar to a machine whirring and a creaking chair combined. There was now also a strange green light emanating from that spot as well.

    Let’s get out of here!

    Wait, said Chloe.

What do you mean wait? There is a strange looking light, and a really loud creepy sound coming from that direction, however, in that direction, he said as he turned her around, is a place where I know that we will not be sucked into a black hole or anything like that, so let’s just go this way, he said as he tried pulling her unsuccessfully towards home.

No! said Chloe most insistently. Maybe this is what was destined to happen. Maybe this is our fate.

That’s funny because a minute ago I recall that you didn’t seem to believe in destiny or fate. Does the phrase ‘cheap psychic’ ring a bell?

    Well, I changed my mind.

Fine, I will just walk right into that creepy light into some interdimensional portal of certain doom, just for you, he said sarcastically
