Gary let the small rainbow trout slip gently from his hands into the cool stream.  He watched it dart from the shallow water toward the pool he’d snagged it from.  It was a gorgeous day.  The air was clean, and the sun filtered through the trees like a warm haze.  A slight breeze kept the September temperature pleasant.  Unlike the mud-filled creeks they called rivers back home, the water washing past his hips in the spring-fed stream was crystal clear and fit to drink.
