The earl laughed but King Roland looked intrigued. “Do tell. How does a knight, and Queen Ilyana’s champion, survive without eating?”

George glanced at his lover and she answered for him. “He survives—and thrives—on milk,” she explained.

King Roland snorted, a most un-kingly sound. “Really?” he asked doubtfully. “How many cows exist just to serve him?”

“Just one,” answered Ilyana primly. “Me.”

The two other women gasped at the audacious answer but the king and earl guffawed. “He sups upon you?” the earl asked incredulously.

Queen Ilyana smiled, put down her fork, and gently tugged on the edges of her neckline forcing her breasts into view. All four stared at her brazen audacity. “I’ve been lactating for years. It creates a special bond between me and my champion.” She reached out and touched George’s hand. The group continued to stare at her chest and her decorated breasts. “He thrives on my milk.”

“I see,” said Lenore. “That is wonderful. But I would appreciate it if you would cover yourself.”

The Next Day

When George awoke the next morning he felt Ilyana’s warm body next to his. He didn’t move, not for fear of waking her, but for fear of the pain that would surely accompany the morning. He had been in enough battles, been wounded and battered enough to know that the day after a fight was often more painful than the previous day, after the excitement and bloodlust had faded there was little more than pain and aches that would only abate with time.

Except that wasn’t the case this morning. When he cautiously moved his limbs, slowly at first and then with increasing incredulity, George discovered the aches weren’t there and he could move freely. Upon inspection of his body he noted that all the minor wounds, the little cuts, the scrapes and abrasions were gone but for a minor reddening of the skin. Most of the bruises had also vanished.
