Preface

This book is written in the hope that the ‘burden’ of study for examinations will become lighter, and that learning will become a pleasure. 

Most of us grow up to look upon schooling and studying as a ‘punishment’ — a process through which we must necessarily (and unhappily) go through as our parents did in their time, and their parents before them. This gruelling process is the cleansing fire of a purgatory which we have to face so as to secure a period of ‘heavenly’ working life.

We are therefore brought up with wrong attitudes towards study — especially study focused towards an examination. We are not taught skills that will make study easier in effort, more productive in results, and more lasting in impact. Most of us go through a lifetime without even being aware that techniques exist for faster reading with comprehension, or for improving recall and recognition. As a result, many who could have enjoyed learning for many years, opt out of the learning process on the day they finish high school — and never go back to study unless they are forced to.

Yet with today’s knowledge of the learning process, the art of study can be mastered so easily. And consequently, examinations need not hold the terror and fear for students
