    Anna’s Ghostly Visitor

    IS IT COLD?

    An eerie darkness covered the sky. Rivers of pink lightning flickered, and thunder echoed Anna’s lonely cries. A steady drip could be heard from the leaky roof as rain dampened the mattress and the floor.

    Would Ariel appear tonight?

    Huddled on the bed, Anna’s feet traced images of daisies on the mattress.

    Ariel, I’m waiting for you.

    The bed springs creaked as the wind passed through them. She fingered the round silver amulet about her neck set with a mother of pearl shaped moon. An amulet that she could not take off.

    I wish I could leave this place.

    Anna’s big, round eyes mirrored unshed tears.

    Light flashed, and Anna heard a tinkling laugh as she glanced about the room.

    An... na...

    A ghost floated through the wall, threw up her hands, and danced around the bed. She was bathed in a white light that shattered the darkness of the storm.
