    FOREWORD

Four of the country's top speakers have come together to bring you this thought provoking and inspirational book on achieving your dreams. Successful speakers, each sharing their views, tips and experiences on how you can do it.

As a publisher, we asked each one to write their stories independently of each other, yet you will find that they all talk about the same basic principles, with passion for life being foremost.

It is also fantastic to see 4 different perspectives and styles of writing, yet each brings us back to the same core message – your life is in your hands, you can do anything and everything you want, as long as you take responsibility for your actions and love what you do – the universe will look after you.

    CRAIG FERREIRA

Craig spent his life working with public enemy number one, the great white shark, which in itself is challenging.  Added to this, the extremely hostile environment these animals live in - the unforgiving ocean and specialised equipment, provided him with unique opportunities to learn the art of working in a high tension arena where pushing the limits and stepping outside of the comfort zone was a daily routine. In fact, there was no comfort zone.

Today, he uses his unique experiences, knowledge and insights into the true realms of working on the edge to clearly show his audience that we need never fear our challenges. He believes that our greatest gains, our greatest lives, lay waiting just beyond our fears and once we develop the skills and resolve to transcend our perceived limitations, we are richly rewarded.  We begin engaging life on the level of the heart and not from an intellectual perspective only, and this is where the flow is realised.

    GREAT WHITE SUCCESS

Life is an adventure but we lose sight of this truth in the mists of our fears. - Craig Anthony Ferreira.

Fear holds us back, it drains us of our passion for life, it keeps us from our dreams and cuts off the flow of opportunity but each and every one of us can easily transcend our fears, doubts and limitations if we are willing to put into practice certain principals. In my life with the great white shark, I have been able to tap into a number of principals that have allowed me to step up and engage life at its highest level.

    The Shark.

I had to force myself not to twist my head and look over my shoulder to see where the shark was. My hands clenched tighter around the two, taught, 7mm thick cotton ropes that ran down on each side of me and as the seconds stretched into long moments of time, my pulse quickened with the anticipated impact. Another second became suspended in time and then it hit, all one thousand two hundred kilograms of pure muscle and raw energy.

The clear plastic lexan thumped me hard in the back and in that same instant, I heard something crack and then snap. The sounds were muffled under the water, but my senses were on high alert so the noise seemed to explode into my eardrums.

Now, I swung around to face the shark and as my eyes adjusted into focus, I found myself looking straight into the monsters gaping jaws and deep throat and there, running down like a deep cut right in front of my eyes was the crack I had heard. The shark had struck hard and direct and instead of rolling away from the animal, my protective, ‘indestructible’ bite tube had buckled under the pressure and failed.

The crack ran from the top, in a straight line to about half way down the tube and then it veered off in a jagged journey to the left where it eventually came to a stop on the joint that kept the apparatus together.

I watched in awe as the shark’s triangular teeth left deep imprints when they slipped along the lexan. I knew that if that lexan was flesh, those teeth would have been cutting right down to the bone. When her teeth came away from the tube, she hung in the water and looked at me, then, with a flick of her enormous tail, stretching one and a half meters from tip to tip, she faded into the depths once more.

As soon I could no longer see the shark, I pushed up to the surface. I did not want to be in the broken tube if she struck again and just the thought of it, caused my heart rate to double because once before, I had a tube fail on me and those frightening images of my near death experience came flooding back.

That last strike was a hell of an impact, shouted Mike, with a grin spread across his face.

Man, I thought she was going to go right through the tube. You should see it – it’s bust right down the middle, from top to bottom. Get me out of here before she comes back.

Mike and Gerald took up the tether lines and pulled the bite tube up to the dive platform. I released my weight belt before handing it up to Gerald and then I heaved myself up onto the safety of the platform. I noticed that the platform was moving up and down and waves were breaking over it. There was far more movement than when I went in an hour before so I got to my feet and looked around at the sea. The wind had shifted from southeast to southwest and now, the ocean looked uneasy with large white caps covering the entire bay.

    It's pretty rough out here.

Yeah, the wind shifted about a half hour ago and has been increasing ever since. We were going to haul your arse out of the tube if you did not come up when you did, said Mike.

A south westerly wind was not good and I knew that the sea would get bigger by the minute so we wasted no time in winching the bite tube back on board. It took about twenty minutes for us to get everything prepared for the ride back and by then, the wind had doubled in velocity and the sea was really starting to look ugly, promising a hard steam back to the harbor.

That day, like many other days, was another day in the office for me. I am a white shark specialist and my particular interest is complex white shark behaviour and shark attack.

The Bite Tube is an apparatus I designed for the very purpose of exploring the realm of shark attack. It is essentially a round poly-carbon tube that provides me with a shield of protection against attacking sharks. Because the poly-carbon has a similar density to water and because it emits no electrical filed, it is invisible to the sharks so all they perceive, is me out in the ocean with them.

I have explored shark attack through the activity of free diving with great white sharks but for obvious reasons, free diving with these super predators is a highly calculated occupation. Before I enter the water, I have to look at all the variables and then proceed accordingly. I will consider water visibility that is critical, sea conditions, and the angle of the sun, the sharks and then, how I feel on that particular day. Once I have weighed all this up, I will decide whether
