CHAPTER I
Exhibiting and Judging
Exhibiting at horticultural shows is both fascinating and educational. It means hard work, but the keen gardener hardly notices that in the excitement and pleasure derived therefrom. Exhibiting provides an opportunity for developing the sporting spirit and friendly rivalry amongst growers, giving added zest and interest to their work. Further, at shows the gardener meets kindred spirits and he is also able to revel in a wealth of garden products at their best. To the trade horticulturist shows afford an opportunity for advertisement and for personal contact with old and new customers.
A good grower is not necessarily a good exhibitor; and it is the object of this section to assist the grower of good produce to exhibit his products to the best advantage. Little or no reference has been made to cultural details as these will be found elsewhere in this
