About this ebook

Sometimes things are not what they seem.

Rick always believed in helping everyone.  His dream was to do as much as he could to make the world a better place.  When he heard about Cryogenics in his twenties he signed up.  He knew there would be a time in the future when man would be able to be revived, and for him this would be another way he could continue to help.

Jenny loved and supported her husband in everything he did.  She knew if he believed in something than it would certainly come to pass.  On their wedding day they declared their love was “For All Time”.  For years she believed that whole heartedly, but, sometimes life throws you a curve and brings doubt to your solid foundation.

Can a love from the past be rekindled in the future or is the future now?

    Dedication

Without the help of Catheryn, Debbie, Veronica, I’d not have made it to publication day.  The words Thank-you don’t seem enough.

A special thank-you to my beta reader Patricia.  Thanks for your wisdom.

Thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

    Chapter One

What an amazing find. I’ve been looking for ages for something special for my mantel. It’s perfect. The piece grabbed her attention when she first walked into the shop. Jenny turned it over in her hands to examine every angle, running her finger over the cool, smooth surface of the metal encasing the clock works. Excitement roared through her veins with the thought of purchasing the clock.

Rick, the memories, came flooding back to her. Her throat tightened, and her heart constricted. They used to love to scour curiosity shops together. A smile formed on her lips when she remembered their ongoing challenge. They’d enter the shop together, then separate, promising to find each other in half an hour. The object of the game was to find the piece they thought the other would enjoy the most. She turned the clock over one more time. This clock would be something Rick would love. A pain shot through her heart. She missed those times. She cradled the clock to her chest and sighed. Oh, Rick. I miss the good times. She had to have it.

A throat cleared behind her. The shock startled her. Jenny closed her eyes and lowered her head. How embarrassing, she thought. I must look like an idiot clutching this clock to my chest. She turned slowly, her head still lowered. She raised her eyes to see an older gentleman smiling at her. In his kind eyes she saw understanding.

Great piece, isn’t it? He pointed at the clock still clutched to her chest.

Jenny held the clock out and looked down at it. Yes, it is. I’d like to purchase it.

I thought you might. Come and let me show you how it works.

Hoping to shake off some of the embarrassment, Jenny continued the conversation. What a great place you have here. I love all the unusual things. And the name of the shop. Nothing is What It Seems Collectibles. It must draw in a lot of people.

A broad smile lit his face. Yes, the sign does draw people in. But it is the truth. He reached his hand out toward her. Reluctantly, she placed the clock in it. Take this clock for instance. On the outside it looks like an antique clock. But when you turn it over and examine it closely you will see it has a few hidden elements that would not have been in an antique. This shop specializes in these kinds of things.

I noticed the extra buttons on the back, but I still can’t believe this is a modern clock.

Although it may look complicated, it’s not hard to use. Would you like me to give you the thirty-second short version of all the bells and whistles?

Jenny was warmed by the man’s caring nature. His eyes and the shape of his nose reminded her of someone, but whom? She turned his features over and over in her mind, but a clear answer didn’t come to her. She shrugged. He must live in the village and she had run into him at the grocery store or the bank was the only explanation she could come up with.

She watched how he held the piece in his large, calloused hands. Cupping the clock reverently, he stared at it as if he were waiting for it to speak to him.

The lines on his aged face softened while he stared at the piece, making him look younger than his actual years. It wasn’t hard to tell he truly liked it. The reverent way he’d held it suggested it had some sentimental value to him. She wanted to snatch it out of his hands before he changed his mind about selling it. She didn’t know why she had to have it, but for some reason it was very important for her.

    "Yes, please.
