About this ebook
He cannot see anything, except for this dark thing approaching him through the vapor, but he can clearly hear the sounds. Amongst other noises there are the nerve rendering screams and then the sudden silences. The sudden silences is what scares him the most. He himself is in a sea of pain, but at the moment, that is not his biggest worry. His biggest worry is this thing approaching him in such a determined manner. What is going to happen to them? What is going to happen to him?
Simon Black
Simon Black is creative, expressive and intuitive. He had succeeded in looking inside himself and thus discover his true self. (He also visited the Underverse, but only came back as a writer, as all Lord Marshall titles have been already been taken) His true self is of course not without problems. This makes it possible for him to use that self-knowledge in his art, his poetry and especially his writing. Like most writers he is introverted, but that never bothered him. Like a great man once said; to be a writer is to be alone. His past is full of exploratory experiences, most of which he is probably pretty embarrassed or ashamed about. When these come out, however, he is quick to confess to them and claim them as all part of who he is. A writer. He has a sense of humour, oh yes. That is why he like to talk about himself in third person. Like an undercover king.

The old woman is frail and does not have the strength to give any resistance to the young man holding her one arm tightly behind her back, while pressing the cold sharpness of his knife against her throat. She always had a fear of knives and now that cold steel was pressing very tightly against the sensitive flesh of her throat. She could feel the razor sharpness of the blade. That, combine with the nervousness of the young criminal, could mean a horrible death for her. He just needs to move that sharp blade slightly and it will cut into the softness of her neck and open a jugular. She also knew that the young man would cut her throat without giving it a second thought.
She smells the musty smell of the criminal. She feels the nervousness and anger that flows through his body as he holds the knife tighter against her throat. His partner stands in front of her with a very angry look on his face. His voice is rough and guttural as he talks.
You tell us where the guns are, old woman, or we will cut your throat and leave you here in your own lounge to bleed to death. Then we will still take all your stuff in any case...we just need your guns and then we will go.
He threatens her.
She feels her heart sinking. She has no protection against this. She is an old woman. She has no strength to fight back against even one of them and here they are two.
Never in her life did she own a gun. She never even saw a gun close-up. What would she do with a gun? How can she make him understand that? They will not believe her in any case.
She will have to give them something. Maybe they will spare her life. She will show them something she knows they will not be able to resist. Then they will spare her and this nightmare can end.
She only wish Frank were here. He would have known what to do.
Pie Maker
Noreen Physcer reached the age of sixty-three years old at the beginning of the month. Although she promised herself she would not, she still held a big party for all her family and friends. As she told her one friend, she does not know when she will go to that happy home in the sky, so she might as well make a big fuss over her birthdays. Despite her age, she still did her best to do everything herself. She lived alone, which in any case meant she did not have much choice, that is unless she wanted to give up some of her independence, which she definitely did not. The only real trouble she had was her eyesight. She had problems with her eyes since the age of forty-nine.
Not totally blind, but incredibly near sighted. Although she wore glasses with very thick lenses, most things were still just a blur to her, unless she held it very close to her eyes. Her pets did help her out in that department, though. However, although it gave her almost super vision, it was not something that she would use in public. That is their little secret hidden from the world.
Despite her weak eyesight, she was the best pie maker in the area, bar none. She was a person who simply loved making pies. It was not only the secrets that drove her to baking pies every day; it was also the luxury feel of the flour under her hand. Super fine and good. The smell of the fresh eggs in the glass bowl, becoming almost like jelly as she mixes it with the swift movement of the whisker. Then adding the farm fresh butter and then further whisking it into a smooth creamy consistency. Then mixing the flour in and kneading it until it is smooth and pliable. Rolling it out, knowing it will be the best piecrust in the world.
All those little things fascinated her, even since she was a little girl. She always said that while she can still get up in the mornings and stand on her own two feet, she would bake. Nonstop.
So from early in the morning, the smell of freshly baked goodies would come from her open kitchen door. Mince pies, mutton pies, chicken pies, the very famous steak and kidney pies and apple pies - were all part of her daily routine. She had two ovens and could bake continuously.
She did all of this out of love. Later in life,
