About this ebook

In this fourth volume of the series, join in the adventure as Phoebe and Marigold confront messy rooms, trouble at school, and a nasty case of “Sparkle Fever.” Follow the pair back to Camp Wolfgang, where their old pals Sue (a.k.a. “Monster Girl”) and Ringo, the lake creature, remind them that being weird is WAY more fun than being normal.

Author

Dana Simpson

Dana Claire Simpson grew up in Gig Harbor, Washington, drawing the entire time. She eventually graduated from The Evergreen State College, despite having spent all her time drawing, and not always for credit. From 1998 to 2008, she drew the internet comic strip Ozy and Millie. After winning the Amazon-sponsored Comic Strip Superstar Contest in 2009, Andrews McMeel Syndication signed her to a development deal for Heavenly Nostrils, which was later renamed Phoebe and Her Unicorn. She currently lives in Santa Barbara, California, with her tech genius spouse and her fairly stupid cat.

Cute pictures, somewhat humorous jokes. I assumed, going in, that this was a graphic novel, but it's more of a collection of comics. Feels like Calvin and Hobbes, a bit, only with a geekier tone. Didn't particularly capture my interest, but younger readers of comics may enjoy.

Razzle Dazzle Unicorn - Dana Simpson

INTRODUCTION

Sometimes a unicorn shows up in your life and makes everything better.

I wasn’t really expecting one. A few years ago, I had nearly realized an ambition I’ve had since age twelve: I had scored a contract to develop a comic strip for newspaper syndication. I won with a comic strip called Girl, which starred a little girl who would eventually acquire the name Phoebe Howell. She ran around in the woods behind her house and hung out with talking animals.

I thought I’d just draw a bunch of Girl strips, and that would be that, and I’d be syndicated and happy forever. What happened instead was, I sent my required thirty strips in every month, and I got back a lot of notes explaining to me why the work I was doing wasn’t good enough to launch in syndication.
