What Is a Prayer Cover and What Can It Mean to You?

For as long as I can remember, my parents put a prayer cover over our family. As a little boy, I will never forget the day an intruder tried to break into our home. My dad was away on a crusade, and my mother was home alone with four young children.

At the first sign of noise from the intruder, my mother began to pray, Lord, help us, deliver us, and wake up Oral to pray too. At that moment, the Lord did all three. My dad tells that he felt a jolt wake him up to pray because we were all in danger. He immediately began to ask God for a divine prayer cover over our family, our household, and our possessions.

Because Dad was holding tent crusades at the time, he was familiar with the structural covering of a tent. He told us later that he immediately saw that great canvas tent stretching over the people to protect them from the outside elements, and he asked God for that same protective covering to come over our house and keep everyone in it safe.

Dad had absolutely no idea what was happening to us. But he knew we were in trouble, and he knew there is no distance in prayer. My mother tells that immediately the rattling of the doors stopped and she saw an intruder flee from our property. A peace and calm came over her and over us all as we simply went back to sleep, safe and secure under the divine prayer cover from God.

When my parents were able to talk to each other after the episode, they realized that my mother and my dad’s prayer cover happened at precisely the same time. We learned that day that the power of prayer is mighty, and a prayer cover is powerful against an attack of the enemy.
