Prologue

MANY YEARS AFTER THE incident, I saw her coming down the escalator as I was folding men’s sweaters at a local retail store. I said hello and she smiled and said hello back.

Do you know me? I asked.

Yes, I do recall you, she said.

You have been a school counselor for a long time, right?

She smiled and said, Yes, for over 30 years. I just retired this year.

Wow, you have been a counselor for a long time, and you still remember me. Why is that?

Some people are hard to forget, she replied.

Finally able to let go of some of the grief I’d held for over 30 years, I simply said, I know what you said to me.

She looked flushed, stammered some words and tripped over her feet while walking awkwardly backwards.

I have to go, she mumbled. And away walked the woman who had hidden my story.

Foreword

THIS IS MY STORY. It involves characters that you might recognize from many different contexts: religious, academic and scientific. This story – which can certainly be defined as spiritual – had its start when I was 5 years old. I flat lined during a twelve hour heart surgery. In actual time I was dead for approximately 34 seconds, but the experience I had in heaven was timeless and profoundly affected my entire life since.

Throughout the experience there was Fidgal, my guardian angel who has remained with me since. I had encounters with other characters you will no doubt recognize who offered me guidance and wisdom, as well.

This book is organized into seven distinct chapters and contains the first twelve of the many teachings I received in heaven.

As you read this book, I encourage you to listen to the recommended songs. Music was a big part in both Jesus’ and Einstein’s life. They believed that music could change people’s worlds. You can find all the songs either on YouTube or iTunes or Amazon. I feel that it is important to listen to the lyrics carefully, as sometimes the message is lost in the video images.

Over the years, my life stories have surfaced from flashbacks, from people telling me their stories, and from messages received in personal experiences. This book is designed for all learning styles. The visual figures are for people who learn visually, the "Picture this" examples are for practical learners and, of course, reading the book aloud is for audio learners. Anything underlined is very important in the chapter. For those who have heard some of this information before, this book will simply confirm what you already know. Other material in this book may be unfamiliar and difficult, at times, to believe.

From a logical side of thinking the term for human(s) is people, but in heaven they call us pre-angel(s). Throughout this book I refer to people as pre-angels. Pre-angels implies that we all are angels, not good or bad.

For those who are not familiar with spirituality, I hope this book will bring you introductory knowledge of what it is about and provide guidance to you in your everyday life. This book starts off as a human interest introduction storyline which will continue mid-section; then branches off to the 12 teachings. This book is based on a true story.

HERE IS MY STORY …

Allow me to introduce myself: my name is Maria Iuliano and I was born to a loving family shortly after midnight on April 21, 1975 weighing in at 4 lbs. I guess you could say I wanted to be born on the 21st of April. I was born with three holes in my heart, a blue baby, and to add to the mix I was a baby who was not fully developed. I was so ill that I was airlifted from Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario to the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario at just one week old. They diagnosed me with congenital heart disease and I needed treatment.

At the age of one, I weighed in at eight pounds, and at the age of five I looked like a three-year-old. I was not eating much, which caused a lot of problems with gaining weight and growing.

At the age of five I went for a routine check-up and a test result showed that bacteria had developed in my bloodstream. I needed open heart surgery right away. Years later, my doctor explained that I had patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), meaning that one of the holes in my heart was not closing and blood was leaking into my lungs. I was drowning from the inside. I still remember taking the train to Toronto with my mother. My father stayed in Sault Ste. Marie, and was to come the day of the surgery. Unfortunately, due to serious health concerns I had the surgery one day early. They decided not to wait.

In the hospital, many doctors said that I looked like a three-year-old, while others said that I looked like a doll. I don’t remember any of the prep before surgery or being wheeled in. I do remember my mother telling me years later that the doctors told her not to get too attached to me. My heart surgery was a complicated surgery, as they had to go through my upper back to get into certain areas of my heart. The surgery and recovery took approximately 12 hours. They repaired two larger holes in my heart and left a small one open. The small hole would close on its own as I grew older. I had many other small holes in my heart that were repaired as well.

During my heart surgery, I awoke to see myself lying on the operating table below. I felt like I was floating. I went back down to my body and sat right up. I looked at all the nurses and doctors that were working inside of me; no response showed when I looked at their faces. They all had serious, worried, or nervous gazes. At the end of the bed, I saw a man approaching with a gold and white aura surrounding him. He looked like an angel from a picture book that I recalled seeing at school. As he walked towards the foot of the bed, I noticed his tanned skin, peaceful appearance and white gown. He reached out his right hand and smiled at me. I rose from the bed, and he placed me on the ground. I looked up and started to walk beside him, then stopped and turned to see myself still lying on the bed. The doctors and nurses were moving quite quickly, and many pre-angels were coming in to assist them. I stood there with a sad face and looked up at the angel. He squatted down to my level and said, Come with me. I will take you away from all this pain.

I continued to walk down a long stretched hospital hallway. At the end was an elevator, but we faded before we reached the elevator.
