    FOREWORD

Life Is Fair is controversial by its very nature. Most of humankind would jump to the other side of the fence believing that life is unfair more than fair, but life is fair is a bold, truthful statement.

Pamela Evans has dared to make this statement into a reality in this compelling book.

Life Is Fair is filled with outstanding research and personal experience that will make you search your soul and belief system, thus changing your life forever.

As a professional international medium for 30 years, I find the information in Life Is Fair compelling and affirming. The mediums interviewed are tops in their fields. Life Is Fair outlines our soul journey in a simple black and white outline, making it easy to take it from mystical, to intellectual, to soul changing.

Once you understand why you are here, you understand the pieces, and how the pieces of your life fit together to create a beautiful mosaic of your soul’s eternal journey.

Life Is Fair will give you a good foundation and abundant tools to review your journey with a greater spiritual perspective on the evolution of your soul.

I encourage you to read, absorb and grow.

    INTRODUCTION

In my thirties, depression seeped into my soul and stayed for four years. The day I burst into tears for no discernible reason, in the middle of an exercise class, I knew I was in trouble.

The bottom line of this exhausting time in my life was that it seemed no matter how hard I worked at every aspect of my life, nothing appeared to improve. Most of us are taught that hard work will eventually pay off. Not for me, it seemed. Although I was never remotely suicidal, there simply seemed no point to life. Life seemed to be only a series of random events.

Just as I was finally about to seek professional help, the depression went away. Perhaps it left because by now I’d decided to settle for what I had and make the best of it. For the time being, I’d settled for plan B.

Why did I have to go through that awful depression? I asked Marge, a talented medium, in 1982.

Her reply showed me there was a specific reason for that bleak period of my life. Honey, you needed to grow through that pain so that when you found out about reincarnation, you’d appreciate the knowledge far more than the average person. It would make you want to tell everyone how wonderful it is to understand that there’s a reason for everything that happens to us. And why we’re here in this lifetime. If we don’t understand reincarnation, we’ll never have real peace of mind.

Another medium, Audrey White, also referred to my depression in a reading about six years after the fact. You would have been very depressed, she said. You would have felt like, ‘Stop the world, I want to get off.’ Yes, indeed.

Audrey was a phenomenal medium who was ahead of her time. Occasionally during a reading, in her deep smoker’s voice, she wouldn’t hesitate to tell a client to stop talking, and in no uncertain terms. She said she saw the events in her mind’s eye as if they were happening on a television screen. When someone talked during this time, she explained, it was like a flash of static across the moving pictures.

Audrey referred to the first reading she gave me as a soul pattern reading. It gave me an overview of all my significant past lives and explained the lessons I had yet to learn.

You could have died at 40, said Audrey, because you’d paid off your karmic lessons. But you chose to stay on in a new life and take on the role of teacher. Because of this, you had to have everything ripped out from under you…all the old habits, people and situations so that you could start fresh. You had to learn to walk and talk all over again after age 40.

The depression was not a punishment, but a karmic gift, a lesson to advance my spiritual understanding. It was only one of many valuable lessons over my first 40 years:

    • Psychological abuse from my mother starting at the age of eight

    • Psychological abuse from my mother-in-law for more than 25 years

    • Admitting my alcoholic mother to be dried out three times and each time watching her come home less cognizant

    • Nearly losing a child twice

    • Going through 23 illnesses with one child in three years

    • Thirteen car accidents connected with my two children

You will grow through more sorrow in this lifetime, Audrey continued. "You died for humanitarian reasons in many lifetimes, boiled in oil and burned at the stake. But they can’t stop you this time. You’re here to complete a mission you started a long time ago.

The truth in the Bible has been muddled and misquoted but it will be straightened out in this lifetime and you’ll be part of it. You’ll be helped by the very best on this side and the other. You’ll walk with men and women you’ve walked with before. These hook-ups have to be made to get the work completed. You’re a spiritual renegade. You’re going to upset and rile a lot of people in the process.

Audrey’s reading explained the 180-degree change in my life that had occurred the previous year after my first-ever psychic reading from Mary Muhlmann. Since meeting Mary, my new interest in reincarnation, psychics, and (for a few years) anything metaphysical had been all-consuming. It led me to write my first book, Dead As I’ll Ever Be, about the importance of psychics and mediums.

Her reading also explained how the circumstances of my life, some of which were decidedly unpleasant at the time, led me here, to this second book. It’s the fulfillment of a mission I’ve been pursuing for many lifetimes.

There Is a Plan for All of Us

My good fortune in this life has been to discover the treasure of insight that talented mediums and psychics can provide. This insight has not only helped me to gracefully get through some of the hard parts of my life, but in some cases, the forewarning of predicted events has prepared me to deal with them more effectively.

Armed with the understanding of why the events in my life have happened, I no longer feel sorry for myself. I know beyond any doubt that none of my experiences have been wasted. Furthermore, the prediction of these events convinces me they were part of my soul’s plan for growth.

In this book, I hope to show how my experiences have, in retrospect, turned out to be blessings in disguise. I want to open doors into understanding and respect for our individual, unseen plans in life.

From all the information I’ve accumulated through psychic readings, books and experience combined with my own sense of reason, I know there’s an outline for each of us—not predetermined but chosen by us before we’re born—for the lessons we need in order to grow spiritually. Therefore, there must be a planner. So that after all our lives have been lived, and all the bad things and good have balanced each other out, life is ultimately fair.

    CHAPTER ONE

    WHY ARE WE HERE?

    All the world’s a stage…And one man—in his time—plays many parts."

    —William Shakespeare

Most of us go through life reeling at the trials and heartaches it seems to throw at us without warning. Sooner or later we wonder, Why me?

Knowing who we are, why we’re here and how life works is our soul’s greatest need, whether we realize it or not. Understanding why makes life’s hard knocks easier to accept. The means to find the answers are available in book stores, tapes, lectures and from mediums, but religion and western science have tried to either discourage the search or trivialize it.

I should know. Since my first psychic reading 24 years ago, people have poked fun at my interest in psychic matters: You actually think like Shirley MacLaine? or You shouldn’t believe everything you read. (As if I had no discernment.) And my favourite: Don’t you have anything better to do with your time?

Science, technology, business and healthcare have made giant strides in the last 2,000 years. Over the same time period, spiritual knowledge hasn’t changed a bit in spite of a thousand available books on reincarnation alone. And yet our spiritual lives are the most important part of our existence. Appalling.

People neglect this aspect of their existence, thinking it doesn’t matter. So today we have young people with no spiritual grounding of any kind, committing suicide at triple the rate of 20 years ago, and killing others in their anger at life and their ignorance of what it’s all about. They’ve rejected formal dogmas that don’t
