    Dedication:

I dedicate this book to the Holy Spirit who inspired me to write this book within a very short time showing the urgency of this book; I also dedicate this book to my mentor, pastor Richard Chalklen and his family who mentored me during difficult times in my life, as I met him in the year 2011, I began to grow from strength to strength, he has supported me in so many ways, who has been supportive of my calling. And I do dedicate this book to all the churches, family, church ministers and prayer partners who made me to grow spiritual and in the word of God; indeed I have learned from the best. Not forgetting Pastor Terry Rae and his Christian organization called Africa For Christ, who has been of great support in my ministry and calling. May God richly bless you all, knowing this; whatever you sow you shall reap!!!

    Preface

Today we are living in an era where Christians are weak. They are weak spiritually, economically and in their mentality. This has come as a result of being disobedient to God and His word. Some people were never taught properly about the word of God and the principles of God. Some have got poor Christian background which lacked good teaching and information about the ways of God. I believe it is high time that Christians should be equipped in order to be strong and victorious. Most Christians are facing many struggles and they don't seem to conquer as a result of being ill-equipped. There is a great cry in each and every Conner coming out of believers. Some are defeated by flesh and some by demons and poverty. Other believers seem to be separated from God and His church. The enemy seems to be on the winning side and Christians are becoming victims. When we read the news we hear of the reports about people who are disgracing the church due to sin and lack of self control. Many leaders have been deceived by Satan and he has caused them to deceive many people. Today people have lost the meaning of Christianity or of being born again. Leaders serve in the church for monetary gain and church members go after miracles not for God and His principles. The church has lost and it needs to be rescued by the truth of the word of God.

    Chapter 1

Read and study the word of God

Many people today have lost an appetite of reading and studying the word of God. Today people seem to be busy with so many things; they do not have time for the word of God. They are spiritual hungry and spiritual empty and weak. In nowadays it is rare to find people discussing about the word of God. They always discuss about their denominations, leaders, members and programmes. Even in most churches there are no Bible studies and Sunday schools. Most leaders are leading churches without having a proper training of the word of God and that has led to a disaster. People preach about their vision, miracles and themselves instead of teaching the word f God. As a result of that many Christians have got a spiritual malnutrition in the house of God because they are not properly fed. To prove the truth of this, people run from church to church seeking for spiritual food.

    Let us look at these two words which are Read and study, and we will start with the word Read. these two words are to give us the real meaning of studying and reading in depth. The word Read according to dictionary means Understanding writing, interpret, convert, examine, comprehend and translate. I like the meaning of this word, because most of the time we read the Bible for the sake of reading without considering the meaning of the word Read. I like the first word in the list which is Understanding writing." Do you understand the writings of the word of God or you just read without understanding? This reminds me of Phillip and Ethiopian eunuch, let's go and read the book of Acts to find out about this scenario. Acts chapter 8 vs. 26-38;

26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, Go south to the road-the desert road-that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.

27 So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship,

28 and on his way home was sitting on his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the "prophet.

29 The Spirit told Philip, Go to that chariot and stay near it.

30 Then Philip ran up to chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading? Philip asked.

31 How can I he said, Unless someone explains it to me? So he invited Philip to come and sit with him.

32 The eunuch was reading this passage of scripture:

"He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before the shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth.

33 In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.

34 The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?

35 Then Philip began with that very passage of the scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.

36 As they travel along the road, they came to some water and eunuch said, "Look, here is water. Why shouldn't I be baptized?

Wow! Philip's explanation of God's word causes a reaction that brings an action. Why people do not react with an action today? It is because they do not understand the writings of the word of God. This scripture shows precisely that God wants us to understand what we are reading. As we are witnessing that in verse 26 and 29 God sent His angel and Spirit to ask Philip in order to meet an Ethiopian. The divine arranged meeting by God for Philip and eunuch was for understanding the scriptures. The understanding of the scriptures is important to God. If we do not understand the scriptures it is easier for Satan to deceive us. It is also dangerous and opens a way for greater ignorance which leads to heretical doctrine. Heretical doctrine comes from the lack of understanding the written word of God. As we have heard in verse 30 that the man was reading without understanding, in verse 31 he confesses his lack of understanding after Philip asked him. Most of the time we are reading the written word of God without understanding, we need to read and understand. The eunuch could not understand, for the eunuch was not born again, in order for you to understand the scriptures you need to be born again. We need to born of water, the word of God and of the Spirit of God, (1Peter 1 vs. 23 and John 3 vs. 5-8). After the Ethiopian eunuch met Philip, he was born of the water, word and of the Spirit. He needed no interpreter concerning that particular subject, because the Holy Spirit was with him (1 John 2 vs. 20). From verse 32-33 we have been told about the Scripture he didn't understand, which is about Jesus' redemption of man. The Bible is packaged with so many things which we need to understand, unbelievers need to understand salvation and Christians need to understand salvation and principles of the Bible etc. As I have learned from school that the person who understands is the one who asks questions. The Ethiopian has shown us that in verse 34, he asked a brilliant question that gave him a brilliant answer which led to his salvation and baptism. The explanation of Philip was so accurate in such a way that an Ethiopian believed and got saved and baptized. Most people today do not believe, get saved and baptized. Why? Because they do not understand
