It wasn’t just bad enough that we, the princesses, Elle and Belle, were lost, in the ancient tunnels under Chadwick Castle. Or that we’d dragged our ballerina friends from France into this. But both the wicks in the lamps were burning down to ashes. If only we had a candle we could light before our flames died completely.

Nobody knew we were trapped between the walls of the rooms. If my parents sounded the alarm, the guards might search the castle. Still, it didn’t mean they could locate us.
