About this ebook

A night out with a client takes an exciting turn for the unexpected.

A publicist's assistant finds herself the focus of one of her firm's biggest clients. As attractive as he is, she knows it would be wrong to engage his interest. Even if she wants to. She compromises by making efforts to continue hanging out with him, while simultaneously trying to put obstacles between them. It's a precarious game she's playing -- how long can she make it last?

Author

Nikki Whitsett

Nikki is just an average girl who is finally done with men and the extensive disappointments they prove to be so often. All that rage against them is just NOT healthy, so she decided to instead channel her energy towards immortalizing the best parts of those men in short stories like these. As a massive fan of Taylor Swift, she would like to think she brings a similar energy to her erotic short stories. Call it her collection of Neurotic Erotica. AUTHOR'S NOTE: If anyone would like to read any of Nikki's books for free, they need only direct message her and ask. ;)

    Conflict of Interest

A publicist’s job is essentially a miracle worker.  So fun fact: a publicist’s assistant gets to do all of the work with none of the credit.  The more you know, right?

Every now and then, there are brief acknowledgements from clients.  Maybe an invite to a cool party here and there.  But they’re few and far between.  Especially for the time / money ratio.

Such is life though.  And today is one of the good days.

A new exclusive club just opened up downtown, and though I failed at getting my boss on the list for free, it turns out one of our hot shot clients got a $10,000 table there tonight.  So needless to say, I know where I’m going…

Hey Halle, how quickly can you get ready?  I’m going to get a ride to you in 30 minutes and then we’re going out.

    I’m spontaneous like that.

Then, I just hang up.  I don’t need Halle’s confirmation.  She always does what I tell her, when I tell her, too.

She’s new to my PR firm, but she was such an amazing intern, I made my boss hire her.  Me, I work hard, get lucky a lot, and am still finishing out my sentence as everyone’s bitch.  I have been here for almost three years now.  It’s crazy it’s been that long.

Nights like this make all the bullshit worth it though.  So enough about work.

I find a flirty sparkly dress, do some subtle make-up, order my ride and I’m out the door.  Halle needs a bit more time.  Something about a shower, I don’t care.

I text another colleague, Brenda, at the club to tell her that I’m on my way and double check that I can just give our client’s name at the door.  Brenda doesn’t answer, but Brenda’s always kind of a bitch to me, so no worries.  I’ll figure it out when I get there.

Something like an hour goes by and we’re finally on our way.  I tell the driver to take us to Nove and pretend to listen to Halle’s story about the crush she has on this alcoholic guy that treats her like shit.  She’s a cute little naive one that draws assholes to her like bees to honey.  I remember when I was like that.  (It really wasn’t that long ago…)  But my general developing jadedness seems to turn more guys off now.

We arrive to a line around the block.  I text Brenda again and no response.  Of course.  I stand by the red velvet rope and wait to smile once the bouncer looks my way.  I hate when they don’t look at me.  Like they don’t need
