A Love Affair with Cats

I admit I have been in love with cats since the day I was born. In fact, one of the first formal pictures of my family was taken with a white kitten. Of course we were fighting over who would hold the poor thing. Looking back at that photograph, I see the affection I had for these small creatures even then.

As I’ve matured, my love affair with cats hasn’t changed. In fact, it has deepened as I’ve allowed many cats to come into our family’s life. Some have stayed only a short time, while others have been part of our family for years. No matter what the circumstance, I’ve always been grateful for a welcoming soft purr, and more notably, the feeling that I’m someone special in their presence.

Cats have taught me so much about life. No other animal has been a better teacher. They have made me laugh, cry, contemplate life, and wonder. Ultimately, I believe cats are a gift, spirits living in a physical body on earth dedicating their lives to teaching us about love in this volatile world. I find
