    Seering Truth - Taquila Thompson

    Prologue

Is the child my daughter is about to have is the one prophecy speaks of? asked Grace as she held onto her daughter Yuriah's hand.

The seer looked at both women and smiled. The child is indeed the one prophecy speaks of. Born of both evil and good this child will grow up to do magnificent things. Things that other witches could only dream of doing.

Will her life be in danger? asked Yuriah as she rubbed her belly. She couldn’t believe that she fell for a demon. Let alone gotten pregnant by one. He seemed so nice and normal but when the truth was revealed all of that came crashing down.  Now she lived in paralyzing fear over what could happen to her child. She wasn’t a part of this magical world which meant that she had no way to protect her. Outside of her mom being a witch and her falling for a demon there really wasn’t much more that she knew

Her life won’t be in danger but she will face a lot of obstacles. A lot of creatures will come after her when her powers come in. Most of them will be evil. If they turn her and get her on their side then hope will be lost for the side of good. Although, this young witch will be nothing like no one expects. She is always going to march to the beat of her own drum, said the seer.

Is there a way to guarantee that she will remain good and not turn evil? asked Grace.

No, I’m afraid not. This will be a very strong willed child. No one will be able to influence any decision she makes regarding which side she chooses. My advice would be not to push her too hard or you may lose her forever, said the seer. As I’ve said she’s unique one.

Is there a way to protect her? A way to keep her safe from harm? asked Yuriah.

I do see something. Your daughter will have a guardian. A wolf. One who will be the key to her reaching her full potential and a lot more. He will belong to Tylahn Pack. Their alpha will reveal her guardian to you when it's time, said the seer.

No witch has ever had a wolf guardian before. How can this be? Are you sure you’re seeing the correct future? asked Grace. She knew that the seers were never wrong but it just seemed odd that the person chosen to guard her grandchild would be a wolf. Sure, they were strong but they were useless against magic and creatures from underground.

Are you questioning my accuracy? asked the seer with a raised voice. She didn’t like Grace's attitude. No one had ever been bold enough to question one of her visions.

No, I just never heard of a witch having a wolf guardian before, said Grace. The last thing she wanted to do was upset the seer because she was the only person who could give them the information they needed.

Well as you know this child will not be an ordinary witch. She will be much more powerful than that. She will also come to benefit from having this guardian. He will be able to teach her things and open up things in her that you won’t be able to, she said.

But he’s a wolf. Not a witch, said Yuriah.

I’m well aware of what he is. I also said that when the time comes his alpha will approach you and let you know the full details of their relationship, she said. I can say that she is going to make quite the impact on the world.

Can you tell us what side she will end up on? asked Grace. That’s all she really wanted to know.

No, I can’t. Not with certainty. She’s different. I don’t think any seer will ever be able to completely read her future, she said. With that I must leave you. I have revealed all that I plan on revealing. Do with the information what you wish. Just remember what I said about forcing her. This child will be a free spirit and you will need to respect that or there will be dire consequences.

The seer disappeared before Grace and Yuriah's eyes. Yuriah looked at her mother in fear because she had no idea how her daughter's future would turn out. The seer wasn’t as hopeful as either of them thought she would be. They were left with more questions than answers.

Don’t worry Yuriah. As you know very well I can also see the future to and I see this child being good, said Grace although her face read uncertainty. She knew that lying to her daughter wasn’t ideal but she didn’t want to stress her while she was still very much pregnant.

Yes, mother I know but the seer said that no one will be able to fully tell her future. Basically it will be a guessing game, said Yuriah as she rubbed her belly.

That’s no different than any other child.

But this isn't just any other child. This is the child that is destined to change the fate of the world as we know it. For all we know she could be the most evil being to walk the Earth! exclaimed Yuriah. She couldn’t understand why her mom was being so calm about the situation.

Would that make you love her any less?

No, I don’t think that I would but I don’t want to raise an evil child either.

I think as long as we love her and guide her we won't have to worry about anything. I know that she will make the right decision when the time , said Grace with more faith than she actually believed.

Are you sure about that mom? asked Yuriah.

No, but you can never be sure about kids. You just have to raise them up and hope that they do the right thing, said Grace. Now let's get you back home to get some rest. You're due to pop any day now and I know you don’t want to have your baby out here in the woods.

Yuriah looked around at the trees and the dirty ground. You’re right. Let's get out of here.

They got into the car and headed back towards Yuriah's house. What happened would happen and there was nothing they could do about it.

    Chapter 1

    14 years later......

The rain poured down outside of the house. Mickella and Sunjai had exhausted all of their efforts to try and entertain themselves. They did shadow puppets and told ghost stories but now they were just stuck bored until the lights came on. It was times like this that they wish that they were a little more creative in their thinking but at the moment all they could both think about was what they were missing out on TV.

Oh my gosh! When do you think the lights are going to come back on? asked Sunjai as she shifted on the chair. She was tired of just staring at the ceiling. Besides, she was never too fond of the dark. Bad stuff happened when the lights went off.

I don’t know. You never know with this weather, said Mickella as she looked out the window at the rain beating down on the sidewalk. It could rain for a few minutes, hours, days. It’s never the same. It still remains completely unpredictable. It wasn’t even supposed to rain today! That’s how unpredictable this rain is!

Well when does your mom get home? It's been a pretty long time since she left, said Sunjai.

Mickella laughed she was well aware of Sunjai's fear of being in the dark. You scared?

Hardly, said Sunjai as she shifted in her chair again.

I beg to differ. I think your new name should be, said Mickella as she made a few chicken noises.

So what are we supposed to do? asked Sunjai quickly changing the subject. She hated when Mickella picked on her but they were still best friends.

I don’t know. We could head up to the attic. There is a bunch of stuff up there. I’m sure that we can keep ourselves entertained and if not then at least it’s something in to do in the meantime, said Mickella.

Your attic is dark. Last time I went up there with you I almost tripped and , said Sunjai cringing at the memory.

We have flashlights and you did not almost die. You fell on a bean bag, said Mickella. She fought the urge to laugh because that was a funny moment. Sunjai thought that she felt something creeping on her shoulder and almost jumped out of her skin. She laughed for days randomly because of that.

Sunjai sighed. She really didn’t want to go up to the attic but there really was nothing else to do. Alright.

Mickella smirked. Ever since they were kids she had been able to talk Sunjai into doing things with her. It usually ended with both of them in trouble but it was a lot of fun. They climbed the stairs and Mickella pulled down the string for the attic. The steps slowly folded down and they began to climb them. The air in the attic was stuffy and held an old scent to it but it wasn’t so bad that they couldn’t tolerate it.

Look around and see if you see something interesting, said Mickella as she pointed
