Bethia Blackmoore has lived a very sheltered life in a small village, but she was content with her life until a handsome and mysterious stranger comes asking for help. Calling him a shade, the other villagers reject the man and warn her to stay away, but curiosity draws her to him.
Thinking a spell has been cast over her and fearing the loss of her very soul, Bethia feels herself bound to the shade and finally agrees to provide the help he requests for an even more mysterious master. But soon enough the journey becomes more adventure than Bethia ever expected, and more than fear binds her to Thom, the handsome shade.
Dangers lie in wait for Bethia as she tries to reach the master in order to claim her reward, and free Thom from his service.
