    Chapter One

    Sunny Prim glanced around awkwardly while standing on the deck of a cruise ship. She looked forward all year to the annual cruise. She loved being San Diego’s number one weather girl, despite having more curves than most of the other women on Channel 6. She fiddled with the spiral curls in her hair, watching all of her coworkers mingle all around her.

    As she gazed at the cold waters churning below, she realized this was the first true vacation she had in years. Sunny always worked. Which of course, made her love life a total disaster.

    She jolted up from leaning on the railing when she overheard heavy footsteps behind her. Rowan O’Malley, her producer and boss, slunk at her side. His hands drifted down and rested on the smooth skin of her shoulders.

    I came by to see how you’re doing... He said in a dark swarthy voice. You look terrific... By the way.

    Sunny’s producer always got a little too handsy. She scooted forward, wriggling away from his touch.

    I’m fine, Sunny replied with a half-smile, powdering her face. Just thinking—that’s all...

    Sunny then snapped her clamshell blush closed and slipped it into her sequined clutch.

    As she turned to walk away, Rowan still stood firmly in her path.

    What’s the rush? he said touching her again on her shoulders and now her back. We still have some time to kill before they start serving dinner.

    This isn’t the first time Rowan had gotten touchy-feely. Most times, Sunny would simply ignore it, knowing that Rowan would never cross the line.

    Just, um, I’m feeling a little cold... I might go lay down for a minute, Sunny tried her best to think up an excuse, feeling extremely uneasy as Rowan stared at her with craving eyes. She
