About this ebook
How to Live the Life of True Success You Were Destined to Live After Your Trauma. Few people reach adulthood without experiencing a traumatic life event - serious illness, redundancy, divorce or bereavement, for example. In any trauma there comes a time, after the support, therapy or the mourning has passed, when we confer meaning on our trauma, consciously or subconsciously. Some wish to return to 'normal' and forget it ever happened. For others, life will never be quite the same again. New Year's Eve; the day resolutions are made, hopes created, marriage proposals expressed. New Year's Eve 1993; the day Diana received the devastating news 'You have breast cancer'. Aged 32, full-time student and living back home with her mum, Diana felt her life ended in that moment. Post-Traumatic Success is proof, 20 years later, this was not the case! Traumatic events don't have to be the end, but can be beginnings. Diana shows how it's possible to create the meaning you choose for your trauma, turn trauma into success and create something positive that becomes your legacy for future generations. Packed with true stories, useful tips and lots of practical exercises, this book will inspire even the most traumatised to create their own Post Traumatic Success.
Diana Barden
After obtaining a degree in modern languages, Diana spent 11 years living and working in Germany and Switzerland before returning to the UK in September 1993 to study for an MBA at Warwick Business School. She was diagnosed with breast cancer on New Year’s Eve 1993 and against all the advice, continued studying full-time during her treatment, passing her degree with Distinction the following year. Right from the start of her journey with cancer, Diana felt the experience gave her an opportunity to reach out to others going through similar traumatic events, and somehow help them to regain control over their lives (and bodies). As a volunteer peer supporter, helpliner and campaigner with Breast Cancer Care, she has helped many hundreds (perhaps thousands) of women come to accept what they cannot control, and recognize the choices they do have in how they live through their trauma. Diana has spent the last 20 years delving into the hidden depths of the mind-body connection, the hard-wiring that determines how we respond and react to external events, and what can be possible when we start consciously choosing our own feelings and emotions. As a trainer, mentor and coach, Diana is committed to working with those who want to turn life’s traumas into successes, and leave the world a better place as a result. Diana lives with her two children near Cambridge, England where she runs Damsels in Success Cambridge, a movement for women who are seeking more success with ease in their lives.
