    WHO AM I AND WHY SHOULD YOU LISTEN TO ME?

    I’m Lizbeth Meredith, a freelance writer and blogger with a degree in journalism and a master’s degree in psychology. I worked for several years as a domestic violence advocate at the very agency that aided me after my own victimization. For the past sixteen years, I have worked for state government with juveniles, many of whom struggle with the effects of family violence and subsequent dating violence. In addition to publishing articles about mental health and domestic violence, I have written a memoir about the process of leaving my own abusive marriage, which resulted in my two young daughters being kidnapped and taken to Greece. I’ve published an online dating safety guide available on Amazon, and am a contributor to A Girl’s Guide to Travelling Alone, by Gemma Thompson. I blog at www.lameredith.com.

    More importantly, I’ve been on both sides of this issue. When I was young, I had exactly one friend who knew the right thing to say when she understood that my marriage was abusive. The impact of her words stayed with me as I fumbled to make good decisions for myself and for my daughters.
