After reading literature about dating abuse that only had stories about people in opposite-gender relationships. She thought it might be easier for readers to absorb the material in her book if they had something to identify with. Thus, the main feature of her book is same-gender characters telling about their involvement in abusive relationships. They introduce the topic of each chapter with their thought-provoking stories. Additionally, she believes her book is the only one written especially for youth who are LBGTQ. Chandler, a Iowa transplant, lives with her partner Pat and Animal Companions in Sacramento, California.view less
