Every day, highly-skilled neurosurgeons take the lives of complete strangers into their hands, knowing that one false move could mean death or worse. The job of a neurosurgeon is unlike any other, and in Do No Harm, you'll get an unprecedented look at these extraordinary doctors, through the eyes of a veteran of the profession.
Neurosurgeons cut and probe into the very organ that makes us think, defines our actions and lets us experience the world. The job comes with incredible amounts of responsibility and pressure, and Do No Harm is a rare look into the work and lives of the people who take that pressure on daily. Raw and honest, this book is a true picture of the highs and lows that come with one of the most demanding professions in the world.
You will learn:
· Why surgeons deliberately distance themselves from their patients
· How one small mistake can cost a patient the use of their senses
· Why a neurosurgeon's work can have a profound effect on their personality outside of the job.

What’s it about?
Our society places great trust in our doctors. We see them as wise, respectable, intelligent figures with unfathomable skills that keep our bodies healthy and functional even in the face of deadly conditions. Those who practice medicine are upheld as virtually superhuman, performing procedures that no one else can and providing a service unlike any other. Though all the medical disciplines are held in reverence, few are placed as high as the surgical specialty known as neurosurgery.
A neurosurgeon specializes in procedures of the spine and brain, making theirs a delicate and highly difficult art. Their work takes them into parts of the body we don’t even fully understand, handling the systems and organs that form our very thoughts. For a neurosurgeon, one false move could mean dire consequences for their patient, but success could result in a longer, happier life. These surgeons are often regarded as at the pinnacle of the medical profession. With so much pressure, and with such high stakes, what is it like to be a neurosurgeon? How does a person perform under such extreme pressure every day, knowing that one wrong move could send their patient into a stroke, paralyze them, or even kill them?
