Fractured Hearts

About this ebook
Beethoven had nine notes; with these nine notes he created symphonies. He created timeless music through something much smaller than the whole. Fractured Hearts is the story of our relationships. Through six individual stories, a larger mosaic is formed. The stories themselves are various lengths but most within the realm of flash fiction. Much like a symphony the larger vision is created through something smaller.

Introduction
THEY SAY THAT FALLING in love is a journey. There are any number of trials and tribulations along the way. Sometimes what we feel maybe our biggest pitfall can become our greatest help in the journey. But we can relax in the knowledge that we are not the only ones on this journey. Every day there are countless others who are searching for the same things we are, whether it be acceptance of our faults or acceptance of who we are. Even simply to find someone in the world who is just as lost as we are.
The path we follow at times can lead us astray. But it is still the path we must follow. No one can walk it for us. But occasionally we may find someone whose path crosses our own. And with their help we can find the strength to continue.

Tall Drink of Water
SHE WAS ONE TALL DRINK of water. He felt stupid for even thinking it, like he was in some cheesy Philip Marlow detective story or something. Visions of a smoke-filled office popped into his head. Her silhouette shone through the frosted glass of the door leading into his office.
Papers smacked down on his desk, broke him from his reverie. Janice, the office gossip, had dropped off more reports for him to review. She followed his gaze. That’s a write-up waiting to happen,
she said.
What?
It was too late. He had already been caught, but he tried to hide it anyway.
The new intern.
Janice was looking at him again. I think she was hired just because of how she filled out her skirt.
You don't know that.
He rifled through the papers she had smacked onto his desk. These the new expense reports?
His attempt to change the subject
