About this ebook
Wilhelm frequently wrote and lectured on the Book of Changes, supplying guidelines to its ideas and ways of thinking. Collected here are four lectures he gave between 1926 and 1929. The lectures are significant not only for what they reveal about Chinese tradition and culture, but also for their reflections of the scholarly and cultural milieu prevalent in Germany during that time.

Reviews for Lectures on the I Ching

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Richard Wilhelm manages in these lectures to bring together the greatest wisdom on Humankind’s struggle to understand the forces of life and death. He does this by referring to the powerful hexagram teachings of the I Ching. And he elucidates the inner psychic workings of the universe very eloquently with the use of Chinese imagery that is contained in the I Ching. However, in these lecture notes Richard takes the reader deeper than what is written in his version of the I Ching. And this demonstrates a very high intellect. It’s heavy reading for the uninitiated, and in passages can take your breath away with the sheer power of Richard’s unremitting philosophical insight, the likes of which are not found as clearly defined in other known philosophical works. Richard knew and understood the inner workings of God’s creative ability beyond anything ever written in the past. And so, for those who wonder about the divine in nature, the human psyche and the universe we are blessed that he left this detailed account.
