EXTRACTION

Nurse Felicity to exam room seven…Nurse Felicity to exam room seven, Dr. Klein called over the hospital intercom. Giving the blushing young woman sitting uncomfortably on the bed a final look, he walked out of the room and closed the door behind him. Hanging the clipboard with her information on the wall, he walked off to tend to patients he could actually help.

Currently relaxing in the employee lounge with a huge mug of fresh coffee, Felicity took a first and final sip, got up from her chair and dumped the rest of the bittersweet brew down the drain. Rinsing the mug out, she hung it on the peg to dry and sighed as her break ended just as it was getting started. But when her name was called it meant there was a special kind of emergency they could not wait. Walking down the wide sterile corridors of the small hospital, she wondered what exciting condition lay in store for her this time.

When she reached exam room seven, she did not see Dr. Klein anywhere in sight. Grabbing the clipboard, she opened the door and walked in to see a young raven-haired beauty that looked as if she were about ready to die of embarrassment. It was a look the nurse had seen many times over the course of her three years at Mercer General and she offered a reassuring smile.

Glancing down at the paperwork, Felicity looked back up at her patient and smiled. Hello Mrs. Davis, I’m Felicity. May I call you Amanda?"
