About this ebook

The Kingdom of God is built by the hands and hearts of Gospel Champions. These devotionals are focused on the faithful and courageous men and women who answer God’s call on their lives. Often the least recognized, these Christian servants are the hands, feet and face of God’s present-day Kingdom. Some of the devotions encourage servants to answer His call, then prepare for their mission tasks. Other devotionals address working with others on the frontlines of the Gospel mission. There are devotionals related to finishing in continuing strength and steady faith. Some devotions include Scriptural medicine and reassurance for those who stumble while serving. The servants who bless others are often more blessed than they know. These teachings help Gospel champions recognize and use the gifts God has already given to them. This book benefits the men and women who deliver God’s answers to the physical and spiritual needs around them.

    Foreword

It wasn’t that long ago that I was driving back to my office from a meeting and began meditating on the hurting and broken servants of God’s Kingdom. So many were once full of life and vision…. I remember emotions filling my car and as I was wiping the tears from my eyes the Holy Spirit asked me this question, Can these burnt stones live?

My mind went immediately to Nehemiah 4, where the Jewish people came under ridicule in their mission to rebuild the wall around Jerusalem.

When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, "What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are? (emphasis mine)"

    Nehemiah 4: 1-2

As I began to pray for the lives of those who serve, and have served, God’s Kingdom, I found myself becoming burdened for their destiny. I knew God had more for their lives but finding them and inspiring them seemed problematic.

I asked God, Where are these stones? And His answer surprised me; He said they are a part of every fiber of My Body. They are sitting in the seats of our churches, serving on boards, or teaching our classes. Many are searching for purpose but getting lost in the noise of our culture. Some are watching football on Sundays while others are focused on trying to achieve the American Dream. Some come from brokenness and pain, while others seem to have it all.

The burnt stones cross every social, economic, ethnic or gender boundary. They are in every stage of life and many times don’t even realize they are burnt. These stones are you and I.

This devotional is one of the tools that will inspire you as you navigate the servant life that God has called each of us to walk. Whether you are standing strong in the confidence of the Holy Spirit or wondering if God can still use you, this tool will help you see that God’s Word is a source of life and strength.

If you are feeling burned up or burned out, God still wants you to know that your life can
