About this ebook

Mercedes Cambridge gave her young life to becoming a doctor, and she can’t see anyone worth putting that aside for, especially Porter. She mistrusts him when she discovers he gets engaged to women as if it’s a game.

Can Porter St. Clair convince Mercedes that he wants only her when he invites her to a wedding at his palatial estate, with hopes of changing her mind, with one passionate night?

Porter St. Clair has everything: cars, houses, women, and he’s rich and handsome. He has it all, except what he wants, and that is the beautiful Dr. Mercedes Cambridge. When he discovers she doesn’t want to take a chance on a womanizing playboy, he’s arrogant enough to think that there is no problem he can’t solve or woman who can resist his charms.

But will the women in his life step aside for Mercedes without a fight?

    About the Author

    Chapter 1: Mercedes

I can’t believe my response to Porter. The only man that’s ignited a fire in me, where I’m consumed with desire. His body electrified me when I first gazed into his blue eyes. He’s the first man in my twenty-some years, where I fell in love at first sight, gave myself to him eagerly, and I can’t believe I was stupid enough to say, Never, when he asked me, When will I see you again?

My words stunned him and disappointment swept over his deep blue eyes. His mouth sank downward to a hard line and I couldn’t take back what I had said.

He was right. I am jealous. I’m so jealous, I could have forgotten who I am, and snatched those blond bimbos bald if I hadn’t been at work and my mother hadn’t taught me better. But there comes a time when all of my upbringing and manners prove useless, especially if the heart is involved, and everything goes out the window.

I had to say Never. I was trying to keep my dignity. I had spread my legs for the most notorious bachelor in Manhattan, giving him my virginity, which I promised to keep intact until I found a man I wanted to marry. I have my pride, but I don’t have the man I want.

Thinking back, what else could I say? Where did I fit in with his gathering of blonds? I’m black and a dedicated working professional. Those women are white and could fit into his world of excess.

I don’t just want to fit in. I don’t want a part of him, I want all
